This is so misleading. The Iraq missiles have been completely refuted (it was an alarm responding to missiles traveling in Iraq’s airspace to another target, which is common) and “begins” implies there will be more, for which there is no evidence. Stop writing like the NYT.
After bills and cat food I spend the rest of my paycheck on books and I will never feel guilty for pirating a $100, 150 pg book that I need one chapter of. Your problem is with publishers, not impoverished early-career scholars.
You know… all of this hubbub about LibGen … it just seems so out of touch to me. I’m not defending Meta training AI on copy written material, but I wouldn’t have a single degree if I hadn’t pirated books. Not all libraries will buy books for students and academic texts are ludicrously expensive.
