this kinda like something Munro was praising the Nissan Ariya for, using existing front crash structure components to hold accessories close to the front bulkhead, but it wasn't a large die cast. They made it sound like it was something they hadn't seen much of before

Those controls are already available in the bottom bar, steering wheel controls, and voice command.
But the act of choosing music in current USDM infotainment systems (incl. CP/AA) is hell. The UI is so annoyingly limited that I'm usually forced to do it manually on my phone or choose to suffer
and they perceive that foreign brands won't have those medium/long-term quality problems, whether that's true or not.
That last factor is arguably why the legacy foreign brands aren't doing as bad as they could've been in China right now.
image, to most Chinese ppl he's just the guy who does SpaceX & Starlink and shit.
Plus, a lot of older Chinese buyers (Gen X) are very hesitant to buy domestic brands because they remember how bad they were just a 10-20 years ago, and how some basically just fell apart after only a few years
Tesla's are like the Toyota of EVs in China; if a random person who knows nothing about cars wants an EV, they choose Tesla as a default choice just like Apple phones or Dyson vacuums.
They also don't have the baggage of Musk being on their social media & political sphere fucking up their brand
if they wanted to satisfy people's theoretical towing requirements, and it likely wouldn't fit in a smaller vehicle. Also, with Ultium a smaller battery wouldn't quite reach 800V, extending DCFC times close to an hour.
I'm not sure if mid-size buyers are Maverick levels of reasonable/realistic.
The Silverado EV isn't meaningfully larger than the equivalent ICE Silverado (Crew Cab + 5.8ft bed)
IMO it would've been fine to extend the length a little if it resulted in aero gains
I don't think a mid-size EV would've done that much better, it'd still need a huge (only 5-10% smaller) battery
and i never knew/forgot it even had one bc they leave it off in 90% of their press shots!
IIRC it also supports displaying (latin alphabet) text so i wonder what happens when there's road rage lmao
IM Motors LS6 rear taillight that has an animated puppy who peeks out
this feature has become so common in China for the past 2-3 years that i don't think many automakers even advertise it much anymore
this one (IM Motors LS6) is my fav i've seen so far:
i love that the chinese obsession with tiers named 'pro' 'max' and 'ultra' has spread to lattes

To clarify, this means default MGU-K deploy is decreased from 350kW down to 150kW, and 250-350kW of deploy is only allowed in Overtake mode?
150kW is a little lower than I thought they'd go but it'll probs stop the complaining. But now everyone's gonna complain that the cars are too slow 🙄
pra mim foi mt obvia a importância do LOONA na academia… impossível vc ir numa universidade publica brasileira em 2022/23 e não ver algo assim

Screenshot from a Semafor article that reads "Hyundai’s EV sales in the US increased by 40% from February to March, as fuel prices rose due to supply shortages, CEO José Muñoz said at a Semafor dinner Tuesday. The situation has highlighted the back-and-forth nature of EV demand that has plagued car companies in recent years. “One day, [dealers] call you and they say, ‘please stop producing EVs,’” he said. “The day after, they call you and say, ‘why [are you] not producing more?’”"
Holy moly, Hyundai saw a 40% rise in US EV sales from Feb to March spurred by increasing oil prices.
the browt in the puffer 🥺🥺🥺
oops it's 4 - Ford Mach E
It also doesn't help that everybody outside China gave up on the cheap LFP that's driving the Chinese EV revolution, and then was very slow to follow. There's only 3 cars you can buy with LFP in the US today
The way everyone else does pickups means they're wayyyyy easier to EVify, and even then most are PHEV/EREVs like the BYD Shark. Full-size pickups are a very difficult, uniquely North American problem that only affects the Detroit 2.5 that are so dependent on them for profitability
it isn't really sourcing anymore. It's simply that the >100kWh required to make an inherently draggy pickup go the long distances USians require is Really Fucking Heavy And Expensive
