The fact that he's just a nice guy who treats the little (robot) girl with respect right from the time they first meet is such a pleasant change from all the games where the male lead is like "Ugh, why do I have to be burdened with other people!"
One thing I like about Pragmata is it looks like it's going to be about a gruff space marine reluctantly learning to be a father but it's not at all. The robot girl is treated more like a partner than a child, she rescues Hugh just as often as he rescues her, and he's actually very kind & heartfelt.

I read something by an economics prof who said he'd tell his students on day 1 of class that there would be a question about tax brackets on the final exam, and most students still got the question wrong every year. I don't know why, but most people really struggle to understand tax brackets.

Sort of related: I took an African politics course in undergrad. The prof drilled into us that we needed to be able to correctly label every country in Africa on a map because it was going to be on the final exam. The final exam asked you to correctly label one country, worth one mark. So annoyed.

Any time someone makes this kind of prediction, the first question they should be asked is, we're 3.5 years out from the first release of ChatGPT and unemployment is still near a historically low level, so if the robots are going to take all the jobs, why isn't there any evidence of it happening?

In the last 78 years (the longest span I could find data for), the highest the US unemployment rate has reached, excluding a few months in 2020 when Covid spiked the labour market, was 10.8%.
