To be clear, that delay is a docketing issue. The MI Ct of Appeals gets over 5000 cases/yr. Takes awhile to process the cases and schedule arguments
In Michigan the Court of Appeals has the briefs 6-9 months before oral arguments are scheduled
Irl the briefs matter more than the oral arguments. Most appeals directly from trial courts are decided on the briefs and oral argument is often legal theater
