Sounds a bit sniffy. Konrad makes absolutely zero claims to expertise, he constantly reminds everyone that he is only and nothing more than a populariser.

Not to dismiss the real damage that Trump is doing to people and the planet, but I'm so very bored of him and all his claque with their almost performative callousness and vile cruelty. I just want to change the channel.

You really do have to ask though, what would be the cost of conventional evaporation covers & a whole big separate solar farm on solid ground.

I did some graduate work, we literally went through everybody's recycling bins for a few weeks. Rubbish job. Separated glass ✅, Metals ✅, plastics meh, cardboard meh.

Cardboard is absolutely not wanted in the recycling stream. It's lowest value of all, just pollutes the recycling depot. Nice white office paper sure. We burn or compost all our cardboard.

What do you mean - people just call in!

Look in any suburban recycling bin and realise that it's all bollocks.

Waste to energy may seem like admitting defeat, but it is more in touch with reality.

Not sure what your sources are, but 12k a year seems very very low, while 11.1l/100km seems very very high.

I'd prefer a world where I couldn't name a single captain of industry.

And to avoid billionaire wealth taxes, they can donate themselves to below the line.

Philanthropy is a terrible model for social services. Capricious.

I'm not envious of the money they have (impossible to spend that much in many lifetimes), I'm very wary of power they have in a democracy. They shouldn't, but they inevitably do.

Some very very clumsy security guards, again.

Mike Cannon-Brookes. Seems like a nice guy. Does he deserve any special power though? All the real innovation was in the early days. Tax him too.

Has a billionaire ever actually done anything useful at all, once they've made their billion? Anything that a competent board couldn't do?

I mean hats off to Forrest for accepting the science, but all well run companies should be electrifying fast anyway.

Take the wrong message from a movie: Gallipoli - you can dodge bullets better if you run faster.

Turns out careless fuckheads from high school still are.

Just annoyed at myself for even caring.

Also, I don't think there's been a development in the last two decades that hasn't run all services underground, where it's safe and secure. Buzzy glowing poles all over the place seems like a majorly backwards step. Undergrounding old suburbs is an attractive idea, if cost-effective.
