That's what my doctors would say.
Along with "ditch spicy food, and especially late large meals" but no can do - I will try to add yoghurt (and PPIs) to my dinner and see how it goes 😊

Ah, it's a P-CAB which is not yet approved in the EU.
Oh well...

Luckily I worked in healthcare in my country, and can still get the occasional access to a database for doctors - with @benjanun.bsky.social's info, I'll be able to find locally available alternatives.😊

I recently developed this through meds; what meds help with it?

Fühle das sehr. Been there... drücke Dir fest die Daumen, dass es bald ernstgenommen wird und sich eine behandelbare Ursache findet

Why is this about me growing up, and not the person who died?

Because he was, unfortunately, not a nice man.
That's okay.

I remember a time when I was almost sent back to our country of origin (while I wasn't even born there) because my father forgot to get a new passport on time, and so they revoked his residency permit and along with it, mine. My mum was quite upset (and I too young to understand).

Most attempts at discrimination during childhood and teenage years failed because I was too autistic to understand what part of us they tried to offend, or why it would even qualify as a subject for offense. 🙈

I remember needing to switch to another language when talking to friends or cousins from a different region of our parents' country because their parents had only ever spoken to them in a specific dialect.

I remember sending letters to family in other countries. Having to translate between my siblings and aunts and grandmothers, both those living abroad and those living in the next town.

It's been wild growing up as the offspring of two families who differed quite a lot in their ways of life and never really understood each other (and so, neither side really understood their mixed offspring fully). (Now imagine being autistic in that environment... 😅)

My name still tells the story of where we're from. It's been both the cause for discrimination (esp in the 80s and 90s), as well as the reason for pride.

Dual citizenship is possible now but our country of origin made it harder to get my citizenship back. Lex sanguinis has lost its influence.

We were a big family.
Too big, and spread over multiple countries, for me to know them all or keep in touch.

And out of my siblings, I remain the only one to remember our second mother tongue.
I had to give up my father's citizenship as a teenager since dual citizenship was not allowed.

As I grow older, so does my family's cultural heritage.
Last night, the person who emigrated to this country as a guestworker, got children and grandchildren and great grandchildren, died.

I fail at trying to explain what this means.
