WELCOME TO TOMODACHI LIFE CUNO
I keep fish and bugs share the same best part. They thrive in specific environments and it’s so fun to research them and duplicate that environment.
And if you do, you get to observe all sorts of neat behaviours. My betta spends most of her day trying hunting the little worms in her substrate.
There is nothing that tells me more about someone than how they view bugs. Respect for even the creatures we’re conditioned to see as “gross” is a sure sign of a good heart.
Yup they’re going to take our knowledge then rent it back to us.
That’s not even a conspiracy theory, that’s the business plan. We’re so stupid to let them do it.
And like I have spent almost two years reading rejection letters or being ghosted. I’ve got two decades of experience but nobody wants that. They want a slop machine addict.
I don’t even get interviews anymore.
I hate that I really genuinely love programming, because I feel so alone now.
There’s no community left that’s not full of people who aren’t using Claude code like disgusting addicts.
Every day is more disappointment. I’ll never get paid to do it again, and everything I do will be buried by slop.
Imo for bootloader security, all you need is the OS to sign the bootloader on install and drop the keys in, but they didn't DO that.
It only blocks out unsigned OS's. Which windows is, malicious or not.
It's security theatre. Bringing with it the trojan horse of limiting control of our devices.
I'm saying the moment we allowed secure boot to exist, the moment this became inevitable, it was always the point.
There were so many better ways to do this than microsoft being allowed to ship magic keys with every computer.
So many better ways. We chose to let them do it this way.

As a pre-teen author undergoing the incorrect puberty, my own ZZT games circled the same themes again and again, at first with a layer of distancing irony that slowly eroded like the mountain being pecked away by that bird in Hell: they were fetish games. They revolved around captured princesses, with bare feet and torn dresses, chained in ASCII dungeons, punished and degraded, threatened with torture and hardship and peril. These were, in essence, all manifestations of the submissive woman, the painslut and pillow princess I would eventually become, but could not yet admit to wanting to be, could not yet admit that such a thing could be wanted.
everyone is currently obsessed with *checks notes* a 1997 game called Moon Child. but did you know other weird games came out in the 90s? you can read about some of them in my new 24-page zine, Shareware Made Me Trans, coming to itch next week!
The issue with all this, is that all they need to do is make BIOS's that don't let you alter the keys, and they have a mechanism to lock you out of your own computer.
I truly believe this is why they made secure boot, microsoft has wanted to force us into windows forever. Now they have a way.
It’s related to stopping boot sector viruses more than anything else.
Secureboot protects from unsigned oses. If I have windows or a signed Linux distribution on that usb stick secure boot has nothing to do with stopping me from booting it
They already have the tools to lock you out: Secureboot.
They are now going to use it, and we need to stop it.
Tips for adults: Make the animal noises together.

The big thing I'm noticing about the age of vibe coding, is that there's no big changes happening. Windows 11 isn't filling with features I'm using and loving, or have even noticed. It's just becoming unstable.
BSky isn't adding tons of features every week. It's just becoming unstable.
