My NIH proposal was discussed and scored. Apparently, that’s an achievement in itself. #AcademicSky

Opinion unpopular to doctors and patients:
Unnecessary tests, procedures and treatments happen all the time in the healthcare. Case in point: daily blood tests. #MedSky

Does levofloxacin 250mg still treat anything nowadays? Our institution uses this dose for neutropenia prophylaxis. Or is this basically placebo at this dose. #IDSky @ebhirsch.bsky.social @zacrobid.bsky.social @mmpharmd.bsky.social @idiots-pod.bsky.social

It's 3 times harder for blue states to get disaster funding under Trump The president has approved just 23 percent of blue state requests for disaster aid, compared to 89 percent for red states.

By the way, in this current system of federal emergency aid you are for. This is the outcome. The feds have way too much power

That’s simply not true. The Europeans are taxed not at the union level but individually at their own states. They cooperate with their ECDC and EMA.
So there are examples of cooperation that doesn’t require high union taxes that are just used for forever wars.

Oh really. Billionaires in no income tax state Florida should be subsidized by Blue state income taxes?

They chose that. They voted for that. They can change that

That can be done by state governments voted by their residents. It’s unfair to transfer tax money from one state to another state.

The federal tax should be lowered to max 10%. States should take more of the responsibilities

Personally, that’s my marker of a bad healthcare facility. If the clinicians are just throwing everything like meropenem, linezolid, caspofungin, and you can feel the terror and lack of confidence in themselves. #Medsky

My issue goes beyond antibiotic stewardship. It’s just bad medicine to try everything because it’s possible a patient has concomitant other diseases. So why not start them on chemo as well since they “might” have cancer?

I’ve seen this in ICU all the time. One ICU clinician even said that they believe nobody should die without being every antibiotic being tried. @jonathanrydermd.bsky.social
