It's impossible to not be in one of these photographs, but Mamdani is one of the few people I've seen who managed to parry the humiliation of being next to Trump like this with a sober expression that wasn't offensive.

It's the only way putting Kash in front of the press the day after his joke suit came out makes sense.
Tonight's a good night to go and re-read Elizabeth Williamson's February 28 story, which is full of relevant info about Kash Patel, Alexis Wilkins, their relationship, and their use of government resources. Here's a gift link. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/28/u...
Ocean's 11, I think was the first movie I saw with people from high school.
What will you do about coastal management?
Steyer: Must protect our coast.
Porter: Tax polluters!
Mahan: Public-private coast partnership
Beccerra: All of the above.
Bianco: Coastal erosion is fake. Bury Dems alive in the beach!
Hilton: Dems are taxing sand!
I haven't seen any reporting, but I haven't seen any emergency photo ops with Trump like we saw the last couple of times he got his dick stuck in a mousetrap. This may be the only way he can talk to Trump at all.
They got used to bribing the friends of an admin or of a future admin so I'm sure they think this'll buy some cachet in a future Dem DOJ to avoid indictments. God willing it won't work.
Kash Patel turns reality on its head: "You have to ask yourself about the explosion of crime under the Biden administration, and thankfully President Trump was put in place to tamp it down."
(The crime wave that ended under Biden started during Trump's first term.)
That isn't a no.
He doesn't have a choice. It's how he proves his worth to the boss and Kash can't afford to lose this job (in his mind).

Also, notable in that @bostonglobe.com is keeping its politics team robust. It appears Matt Stout has been bumped up to editor this year, so Chris may be filling that gap, but they've also hired @kellygarrity.bsky.social
Just saw this in @statehousenews.com. Congrats to Chris.

Secret agent of the Vatican all along. I knew it!
I don’t care what comes next, any action that begins with ‘Laura Loomer got Marco Rubio to…” should carry a mandatory prison sentence.
That would be, um, disturbing, if a member of Congress died some time ago and we found out about it Iike they were an ex-celebrity who became a hermit.
Strangely enough, Raskin is doing Kash a favor here. He's giving Kash an out, but unfortunately I don't think it'll work.
I don't think anybody in the DOJ/FBI or the admin are those people. Trumpland is a moral and spiritual cesspool. If you are a Trumper with a problem, you need to look outside the tent for help.
I generally don't care what happens to Trump admin people. Hegseth is dangerous and violent sober of drunk. For Kash, it seems more like a coping thing. It's not hard to see that Kash will destroy himself if he doesn't get out of this and he needs people who give a shit to intervene.
It's cold here and it's nearly May.
Slop is the right lens to view AI through as its main effect is to clog up every system with a vast volume of gunk.
The dream of the AI companies of course is to charge us to spew slop and also charge to filter slop, with the result of everything become even more unequal and costly.

A big concern, really the central concern here, is how the combination of rising social isolation and our ever more mediated lives threaten the entire theory of mind required for a large republic to work.
The things on this list are in service to that one goal.
Technically his one priority is be important, a subset of that is keeping his fraudulent life together.
This case appears to have a few points of friction that some of the other settlements may not, but there's gotta be a mechanism to short-circuit these conflicts. This might be possible without getting into the bad separation of powers precedent out there but that will be inevitable.
They're just begging SCOTUS to nuke the foreign policy basis for deportation.
Now there's projection.
The problem is if you don't have friends willing to do that. I've gone to my neighborhood pub (and others) alone, usually with a book as a conversation starter, but the situation with a group is so much better.
