People ask us "but where are the democrats?".
They were in the prisons, they were driven from their land.
And today they are returning home.
Syrians everywhere are awake and on edge, anxiously awaiting news from Damascus, news that opposition forces have taken over the capital.
From every city, we have relatives in the notorious Sednaya prison, where as much as 20k detainees are believed to be, about to taste freedom.
Hama. The city that gave 40,000 souls in 1982. The city that was besieged, destroyed, entire lineages wiped out in the space of 3 weeks by Assad’s father. Hama the city that broke us all, the city that Syrians have been asking for forgiveness from since 2011. Our Hama is being liberated.
Event TODAY in Senate House! There's still time ro register: commonwealth.sas.ac.uk/events/launc...
Also while I'm here, it is mad that the Home Office has secretly deported 600 Brazilians including women fleeing dv, essentially to put out a press release on tackling illegal immigration... as if that will make a difference to attitudes on Channel crossings

Was in the Supreme Court today on this very interesting case about citizenship deprivation - issue in a nutshell is: if you win your appeal because you were made stateless, were you British while pursuing your appeal? And are any children born in that period British?
Judgment expected early 2025.
📌 thank you!
