The Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition (Biblia.com) “Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place; for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.”

Then Jesus said to him, ‘Put your sword back into its place; for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.’” (Mt 26:52)

Let’s be clear: there is no universe in which Jesus Christ blesses preemptive war and wanton destruction. To wrap war under the mantle of Jesus Christ is blasphemy. ⚓️

Being very near unto being able to start blogging officially the results of the growing church survey and some interesting findings:
1. Top 50% have a tight, multi-point follow-up system for visitors

I'm right there with you on the antiphons! Thankfully the rubrics allow for them if drawn from scripture

So it's definitely not an automatic barrier to ordination but I would encourage you to talk with your current parish priest and your bishop especially if you're in discernment. You can also request a marriage judgment from the bishop as to the status of your marriage in the eyes of the church.

What's everyone doing for Lenten studies this year? ⚓

You're right, it's not necessarily biblical but it was pretty universally held throughout the Church's history even by the reformers so I'm not sure it's a hill to die on either way. Joseph being older definitely has a grounding in the tradition as well

O Virgin of virgins, how shall this be? for never was there one like thee, nor will there ever be. Ye daughters of Jerusalem, why look ye wondering at me? What ye behold, is a divine mystery

The liturgical calendar is a spiritual technology.

When we overlay our lives onto it, year after year, the patterns become increasingly apparent. Like rubbing over an embossed template. ⚓

Honestly on reading it I would say it seems like the rubrics in the BOS assume a priest is presiding. If that's not the case I would suggest concluding with the Grace after the collect instead.

I know there's disagreement here on how to approach it but I think I would lean towards conditional baptism just in case

What hymn is set to God Preserve the Tsar?

In the Creed we profess belief in a God who created all things, seen and unseen. I think there are absolutely unseen realities that are part of God's creation and scripture and tradition point to the fact that angels as real spiritual entities are part of that creation.

I'm finding it and the readings from revelation to be timely reminders and examples of our call to faithfulness no matter what comes.

He's so great. I really came to appreciate him during my time in the Orthodox Church. I'm so glad he's on our calendar.
