As the MA’s course coordinator, I am proud of our program which blends research-led teaching with a strong global focus, offering students the space to grow and develop academically. For me it’s all about creating this intellectual space for students to think critically and explore new ideas.

📣 Publication alert! My new chapter on "A Rights-Based Approach to the Safety of Journalists" argues that we need to better understand the chilling societal effects of violations against journalists by considering journalists' dual role as holders and protectors of expression and information rights.
It was also great chairing the panel on ‘Setting the Agenda: Journalism, the Media and Democracy’ for the (very well organised) @psampg.bsky.social group - very interesting presentations and engaging discussions.
Very happy that I had the chance to present the framework I developed (based on the punctuated equilibrium theory) to understand how communication technologies affect news journalism - both at an institutional and a behavioural level.

Really enjoyed my first #PSA25 conference. Such an inspiring mix of presentations, approaches, disciplines, and projects. Lovely to meet colleagues and hear about their exciting research. Thank you @polstudiesassoc.bsky.social for the excellent organisation.
A great job opportunity for social sciences researchers with expertise in quantitative and computational methods to work on such an important topic. Highly recommended. Details below 👇

When I evaluated the costs and benefits of Twitter’s impact on news journalism/journalists (📚: bit.ly/3giHSm4) there was some balance. As it seems, not anymore.
Following up on this work, I also wrote a chapter on journalistic self-censorship in social media platforms - a rather pervasive problem (“Should I stay (on X) or should I go?” Three causes of journalistic self-censorship on X).
In the book, I take a sociological approach and use the theory of punctuated equilibrium to understand how social change occurs, how it affects journalism (at an institutional and individual level), and how journalism/journalists respond.
In 'News Journalism & Twitter: Disruption, Adaption, Normalisation' I evaluate the costs and benefits of Twitter’s impact on both the institutional values & practices of news journalism today.

My other research area concerns technologies & platforms as cause for social and/or political change as well as the effects of digital and social media on journalists and media actors.
I have recently contributed to the UK election analysis report (electionanalysis.uk) with a piece on 'Vogue’s stylish relationship to politics' and shared my thinking on Vogue as a specific type of a didactic & cultural icon.

I am currently working on political communication & messaging in explicitly non-political cultural settings and I am looking into fashion magazines historically (for the moment I am focusing on U.S. Vogue).
Hey all - lovely to see so many people here!
I just joined 🦋 and I thought to share a couple of posts related to my work, so as to introduce myself.
