Thank you for linking this. I really helped put my finger on the complexity of what the movie is depicting and my own reaction.

I had no idea there was a vaccine! Googling around showed me that is just not popular in the states, where we're more likely to screen TB with a skin test (which often shows positive results) rather than a blood test.

Thank you for leading me down that rabbit hole!

Oh, as person who also read the first couple and know folks in the scene, it's a very dangerous representation of BDSM!

I think readers should bring critical thinking and remember the primary purpose of the romance novel is to be a fantasy.

The hate didn't mostly come from it being bad.

It all tracks back to misogyny. If women like a thing, it becomes devalued.

Think all the hate around Twilight and 50 Shades.

In the US, then think about all the women centric professions that are being systemically devalued, like nursing.

So yeah, enjoy that shit. Men are wrong.

It's true, horror can be difficult to make judgements for on behalf of others. Thanks!

.... Would you recommend it?

I mean... It's fiction, do what you want. Maybe helpful to tag so that the riffraff knows to stay clear (and block/delete bad actors as needed).

This is to say, hell yes, I like this age gap!

Three worms on a string in different poses. Left to right: Be Yourself. Take it slow. Fight God.

The third worm is holding a knife

Yeah.... Being in the in-between is a bummer. Know that the next thing will come along and make you feral.

Either way, it is genuinely bizarre to change a well known work like that without disclosing that info.

Terrible for fans to come across it without an explanation. It's just asking for folk to become upset.

The characters routinely made choices and had a depth of experience that made NO SENSE for 16 yr olds, but would have worked for a 25 yr old.

I am curious if this 10 yr edition reflects what she wrote before the initial publishing.

This is very interesting. Having read Six of Crows as a 30-something person several years ago, the fact that they were all teenagers felt like an editing choice at the time to put the series into YA.

I’m a PASSIONATE fanfic commenter, but sometimes it slows me down because I feel like I need to leave long notes. But, as an author, I know even a short comment matters. So I made a guide to make it easier. Hopefully this helps someone else too! #fanfiction #fanfic #leaveacomment #harrypotterfanfic

Kinda like your car alarm going off because a leaf fell.

I found a podcast episode of the Jordan Harbinger show featuring Rachel Zoffness extremely helpful for reframing my chronic pain. I think she has a CBT based workbook as well.

Since pain is multifaceted, you may find something here for you.

I wouldn't say I'm out of pain, but that I've learned methods that help me manage it. Sometimes pain can become decentralized such that many sensations become interpreted as pain. When it's chronic, you've trained your nervous system to amplify that response.

I had a shoulder/neck injury turn check chronic and worked with a pain management team. It's always so fun to be told by doctors that there's 'nothing wrong they can detect.'
