In Finland the most successful and equal education system do not do this. They have just one matriculation exam at 18. High stakes external exams do not work. Just ask anyone in the USA who spend the most on education and get the worst results. Fix the earnings divide first.

President Reagan's Radio Address on Canadian Elections and Free Trade on November 26, 1988 YouTube video by Reagan Library

A Republican voice from the past speaking as though it was today. Listen to all of it unedited it's very worth your while. Any economist knows what happens when protectionism happens. Recession, depression then world war. This is what happened in the 1930s. #tariffs

VAT on private school fees is discriminatory, high court told Legal action claims policy breaches rights of children with SEN whose requirements cannot be met by UK state schools

www.theguardian.com/education/20...
The solution to this is to keep vat on private schools and make those who are in need get an EHCP and they will get a fully funded place whether that's state or private.

GCSEs harm our young people. Ministers should have the guts to abolish them – and start again | Simon Jenkins A report out this week highlights how destructive the cult of the exam is in Britain’s schools. But it doesn’t go far enough, says Guardian columnist Simon Jenkins

I couldn't agree more. All research and cognitive science tells us not to do this. Most of Europe doesn't do this.

Not so unprecedented then!

They really missed a golden opportunity to change the whole assessment environment for England. Scrap SATs and GCSEs replace with a matriculation exam at 18. Playful learning from age 7. No subjects just project based learning. Just part of the most successful education system in Europe, Finland

History has told us it's never been a good idea to re-arm Germany. It was only since the first Iraq war that Germany was allowed it's armed forces outside of the country.

Curriculum review signals primary content cut, fewer exams Interim report signals EBacc changes and a subject-by-subject review amid concerns over content balance

They must have done the curriculum review in a darkened room. They missed the opportunity to scrap all external exams at KS1 and KS2 and to comply with the rest of Europe and abandon exams at 16. We must follow the Finnish way. schoolsweek.co.uk/curriculum-r...

The dogma of ‘Britain’s Strictest Headmistress’ is a con as old as time - gentle parenting produces happier kids Disciplinarians claim a stern approach is best, but there’s a lot of evidence to dispute this, says the Observer parenting columnist

I could not agree more with this both as a patent and a teacher. When we were told to let our babies "cry it out" this advice was coming from a non parent and no research to back it up #gentlepatenting

As an FCCT you should be aware of what EEF says about homework in general and this is the reason why effectively there isn't any in Finland! It simply widens the attainment gap between the haves and have nots.

There are only 13 education systems on the planet that have addressed this. You are correct and I totally agree with you that we can't retro fit this in to frameworks. These will need to be re-written taking in all aspects of what UNESCO are asking countries to address.

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

May I draw your attention to what UNESCO has referred to as the 3 progression levels of understand, apply as create. It's a similar paradigm from over a decade ago when it comes getting learners to code.

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

Not quite, it's also about actually coding their own AI. There is no "threat" to assessment from students using AI so long as we show them them the ethical way to use it. Using Edward Tien's algorithms of how we can detect if they have simply used AI to do the assessment for them.

Please use the UNESCO AI student framework as reference.
