In Finland the most successful and equal education system do not do this. They have just one matriculation exam at 18. High stakes external exams do not work. Just ask anyone in the USA who spend the most on education and get the worst results. Fix the earnings divide first.

"Houston, Tranquility Base. The Eagle has landed" - Neil Armstrong on this day in 1967. Admiral Aldrin during an interview once said, "you will only know how hard it was to go to the moon when you try to do it again!". #apollo11 #nasa #moonlandings

A Republican voice from the past speaking as though it was today. Listen to all of it unedited it's very worth your while. Any economist knows what happens when protectionism happens. Recession, depression then world war. This is what happened in the 1930s. #tariffs

Well what's going to happen on Monday? #tariffs I wonder which financial Wizard put this together? Global stock markets are in freefall. It's not just the value it's the volume of trades as well. Dollar is decreasing which will at least make our fuel prices cheaper!

The solution to this is to keep vat on private schools and make those who are in need get an EHCP and they will get a fully funded place whether that's state or private.
I couldn't agree more. All research and cognitive science tells us not to do this. Most of Europe doesn't do this.

Not so unprecedented then!
They really missed a golden opportunity to change the whole assessment environment for England. Scrap SATs and GCSEs replace with a matriculation exam at 18. Playful learning from age 7. No subjects just project based learning. Just part of the most successful education system in Europe, Finland
History has told us it's never been a good idea to re-arm Germany. It was only since the first Iraq war that Germany was allowed it's armed forces outside of the country.
They must have done the curriculum review in a darkened room. They missed the opportunity to scrap all external exams at KS1 and KS2 and to comply with the rest of Europe and abandon exams at 16. We must follow the Finnish way. schoolsweek.co.uk/curriculum-r...
I could not agree more with this both as a patent and a teacher. When we were told to let our babies "cry it out" this advice was coming from a non parent and no research to back it up #gentlepatenting

Not this way. Totally wrong approach. Teaching is a caring profession and if you are a teacher you know all about Maslow hierarchy of needs. Read this research to see what impact zero tolerance education policies have on societies www.psychologytoday.com/gb/blog/achi...
I'll get you the oecd graph it references.
As an FCCT you should be aware of what EEF says about homework in general and this is the reason why effectively there isn't any in Finland! It simply widens the attainment gap between the haves and have nots.
There are only 13 education systems on the planet that have addressed this. You are correct and I totally agree with you that we can't retro fit this in to frameworks. These will need to be re-written taking in all aspects of what UNESCO are asking countries to address.
May I draw your attention to what UNESCO has referred to as the 3 progression levels of understand, apply as create. It's a similar paradigm from over a decade ago when it comes getting learners to code.
Not quite, it's also about actually coding their own AI. There is no "threat" to assessment from students using AI so long as we show them them the ethical way to use it. Using Edward Tien's algorithms of how we can detect if they have simply used AI to do the assessment for them.
Please use the UNESCO AI student framework as reference.
I've been privileged to attend two of these for both of my two while in primary. It's something they will never forget. Empowering, team work, collaborative, and uplifting.
