The way profit maxxing corpo culture has invaded every form of art through algorithms pushing people into daily posting is really weighing on me lately. Efficiency and regularity of making "content" being prized above all else feels so grim, man.

I do miss the old Ezboards and even LiveJournal. Interactions don't need to be instantaneous...just engaging.
Yeah, I am old too... I just miss social engagement. It doesn't even have to be online. I also enjoy voice chat/ phone calls...or even better are in person meet ups to talk. I am even pondering having little meet ups in my area for therians, furries, Animists, or the like.
I have tried to keep in contact with old friends and acquaintances but it seems like no one reciprocates/initiates. Sometimes I feel alone on a desert island in the internet sea. Have we all gotten so busy or conditioned that we can't engage with each other anymore?
I am really noticing a lack of that these days. I get it that chats don't always have to be deep and meaningful, sometimes just reaching out with an "thinking of you, hope you are well" means a lot. ⬇️
I have been sitting here thinking of the old days of the Therian community. AHWW, IRC and the like. I miss the communication we had back then. We would discuss things, debate, bounce ideas and share experiences....hopefully to learn and grow. ⬇️

Thats the thing with social media. they want you constantly on it. You don't NEED to follow everyone. You don't NEED to be constantly engaged. It's becoming more like a trap. It's just there to keep you distracted from living life.
I am right there with ya. This is not what we fought and sacrificed for.

I also learned of the "otherpaw" term from this article and had to look it up. Basically, it is role-playing as an animal and quadrobics without having a connection to the animal they portray themselves as. So...not therians....just doing it for fun. Hmmmm....then stop calling yourself therians!
I am not sure how I feel about this. I worry that it will amp up the kind of attention we don't want or need. It feels more like a "look at the freaks" kinda thing. Already, global society leans towards ostracized for being different....and worse. We do not need this kind of attention.
