HOORAY, the Planet Money book is out today! We are so excited to get this book into all of your hands and we hope you enjoy it. It would be great to see you at one of our live shows too, especially if you are in Chicago! That's where I'll be on April 23! Exclamation points!

Last night I dreamt that Trump issued an EO saying that “it’s 5 o’clock somewhere” would officially start at 3:30 pm CT. What a demented thing for the president to say hahahaha! Anyway Happy Easter 🥴

Was on an American Airlines flight where the pilot had to do a full-on, minutes-long hard sell for the AA credit card like it was pledge drive season. It all felt mildly embarrassing

I was at the library the other day, and an older gentleman was at one of the computers carefully perusing an online grocery store circular (super enlarged on the screen) and I was like I LOVE THE LIBRARY

The towelettes are SO aggravating! I went rogue and grabbed three today, probably sending their profit margins into disarray 🤪 This is the company that owns my studio—I'm in IL and that's one of the 14 states where it bought up CP franchises: www.spartanfitnessholdings.com

My Pilates studio got acquired by a private equity firm that bought a bunch of Club Pilates franchises. Now, instead of wiping down our equipment with a washcloth and spray bottle of disinfectant, we get a dinky disposable moist towelette. And the music they stream during class now comes with ads 🙄

lol well if it turns out that the EXCELLENT breakfast is now the same quality as what the VERY GOOD breakfast was before, and the VERY GOOD breakfast is actually a CRUMMY BREAKFAST, that's a skimpflation story!

What if a very good breakfast is included, but an EXCELLENT breakfast requires an upcharge

@wailinwong.bsky.social @planetmoney.bsky.social @npr.org featured @aaronrosenthal.bsky.social's & my estimate of DHS causing $106 million in lost wages for MSP metro workers as her Indicator of the week.

Thanks for doing such a great job communicating the results.

Between this news and RFK Jr telling us we should be eating more liver, it's a real banner day for the Hannibal Lecter Diet

DHS' Tricia McLaughlin told NPR's Indicator last week "new ICE recruits receive 56 days of training and 28 days of on-the-job training. No training was removed." Then she said they dropped Spanish language proficiency in the same statement and contradicted Lyons' own testimony too. All baloney.

Lara Naki Gutmann is skating to a medley that includes Hans Zimmer's score for Inception. I hope at the end of her free skate she starts spinning and doesn't stop

What is the most uptempo song that would be great for a figure skating routine WITHOUT encouraging spectators to clap on beats one and three, or clapping at all? This is what I would be obsessed with if I were a figure skater
