the numbers go up very quickly from 53 onwards... I'd be now terrified to step out but these numbers include sofa deaths as well 😭

1.115% is a terrifying number at my age.. pretty sure there were at least 100 of us at parkrun. is there an easy way to find actuary tables for the UK?

not sure I understand annual death rate. is that starting from age X, the % of death in later years? or is it if I take 100 people that age then that % of them will die this year?

halfway through this job I had to add this acronym to our glossary as it kept coming up during planning meetings.

nah, embrace the persona, add black jeans and some shiny bit of white plastic you can wave around excitedly while shouting "the future". then take your revenge on kid and husband by forcing them through expensive and unnecessary upgrades

ditto, as a Frenchman, it's taken the Reform crowd to get anything that looks like proper corruption. And as a they are ugly AF, you never get a decent sex scandal, or secret families.. pitiful

All of our TAs are 1) wonderful, 2) underemployed, 3) value flexible work, 4) experienced and trained to deal with most aspects of SEN, so yes, definitely worth exploring, maybe even bob in a few local schools and ask them to ask around

Made the mistake of putting my hearing aids on this morning before bobbing in a coffee shop. there's an annoying woman on the other side of the shop, using a phone on speakers, and that squeeky sounds falls exactly in the range that actually gets amplified.
Pretty sure nobody else hears it that loud

here is a snippet of the transcript of a handover presentation I've recorded yesterday...
and for the record the bit about staring at crotches is accurate, and makes much more sense in the recording

arrrggg once again my lack of knowledge of ancient civilisation is messing up my comprehension of this timeline. was the iliad an old text by that point, or the latest best seller? what were the cultural relationships between the Egyptian and Greek civilisations? what about the Romans?

An article from the National Parks Service: Smallpox,
Inoculation, and the Revolutionary War
Boston National Historical Park
During the 1700s, smallpox raged through the American colonies and the Continental Army. Smallpox impacted the Continental Army severely during the Revolutionary War, so much so that George Washington mandated inoculation for all Continental soldiers in 1777. Just fifty-six years earlier, in 1721, Bostonian doctors and clergy introduced the procedure to the American colonies.
Without the vision and determination of these early Bostonians in normalizing inoculation, Washington may not have made the decision to mandate inoculation for the Continental Army. Though it was a controversial action, many historians credit the medical mandate with the colonists' victory in the Revolutionary War and the creation of the United States of America.
