Mm, gotta say that I think building a comedy writer's room and then publishing the results is pretty substantially different in cost than building a journalistic endeavor. The fact-checking & legal alone, plus staff to do in-depth research, feels like it must be an order of magnitude more $$.

I haven't felt great about hanging out to eat and drink in an airport since COVID, is the thing. I do eat indoors now, but airports are SUCH a conflux of people and their germs from literally everywhere. And I don't want to eat/drink on the plane if I can avoid it. :(
As a Marriage and Family Therapist and a Certified Gottman Therapist, allow me to say: Contempt has never once persuaded anyone. It may have intimidated people sometimes, but it has never changed their thinking.
"the center cannot fail, it can only be failed"
Sent you an email. :)
Feed it to Claude and ask it for an evaluation.
They mean "gay is a choice and trans is fake." That's always what they mean. Also "hitting kids is OK and drug abusers should be put in jail, not coddled." Oh also something something climate change is a hoax "The Aristocrats."
I genuinely think you're encountering rage-farming bots to at least some degree.
1. This weekend, a federal judge permanently blocked funding threats to providers and hospitals that provide trans youth care.
The judge also blocked "any similar policy."
Hospitals have NO excuse and must return to providing care under many blue state laws.

Just please don't let it turn into South Park, which I blame for the entire "caring about things is cringe, all sides are equally bad, expecting people to behave like they live in a society is stupid, nothing matters" ethos that is behind so much of the hellscape today
Do they sell cheeses or magics or both??
Sadly it sounds like it was a classic family annihilation case.

Thank you for trying to do this work in a very difficult time.
I can appreciate the challenges you were probably facing.
I would like to see journalism have some hard conversations about how language can still reflect a fact-based narrative and yet not fall into tropes that undermine agency re: violence (see how the Justin Fairfax story was reported).
The only cold comfort I can offer is that CNN did a shit job reporting this and the 62m number is for total interactions with the site (generic porn mostly), not the f'ing rape academy forum. www.snopes.com/fact-check/c...
I can't figure out if I write the author and say "I accepted your offer without knowing that you used AI so I consider our collegial agreement broken and I won't be posting a review," or if I just don't do it and let him think I'm a loser
Well, "viewpoints" that are pretty clearly found to be false should be dismissed! "What if it were actually good to hit kids and enslave people?" = get in the bin! "Is the germ theory of disease actually true?" = to the basement with you! www.aaup.org/academe/issu...
I'm very salty about this issue - I'm a Marriage & Family Therapist, a field which for decades was heavily pushing a "truth" about "functional families" that excluded LGBTQ+ people, and then we got the data to say "piss off actually," and now the same folks want "viewpoint diversity" for their lies
I believe @jamellebouie.net linked to this essay in his newsletter and it's the best thing I've read on the issue. Basically, you can't have "viewpoint diversity" and also search for truth which is supposed to be a core function of a university. www.aaup.org/academe/issu...
It was one of those "I'll send you a free copy of my book if you'll post a review of it the day it comes out" things and I know I should have known better... sigh.
Every hour or two I rapidly scroll through another chapter and think "this could have been a memo."
I agreed to beta-read a book that I did not know involved AI in its creation. It is very challenging for me to decide what to do now.
Also, the writing is not compelling. Maybe I am not the audience for it, but... I don't think I'm the problem here.
Submit meaningless data for SCIENCE!
Do you want super babies? Because this is how you get super babies! (Really!)
simple answer: yes
Some "dispute."
Children: "We'd like to be alive, please."
Killer: "I'd prefer if you were dead."
Not really much of a "dispute" there. Police-ese is deranged.
I very much enjoyed the last of Tom's books I read, "Villager," and at some point I hope to enjoy this one.
At some point I expect to see airplane tickets being sold with an optional GLP-1 add-on. The "Just shrink yourself, fatty!" approach for passengers of size.
Presumably as much fun as it is when your ass is wider than the distance between the seat armss
"Domestic violence dispute" is a really interesting way to say "some people didn't want to be killed but one guy wanted to kill them"
