(Also, fantasy as a genre outsold science fiction by about four to one, and romance outsold fantasy by nearly two to one, so there's some perspective for you.)

Reminder that in this house we do not trash other genres of books to support the genre we like the most. One, come on, we're grown ups. Two, the bottom line is people reading and loving books. Three, every writer you know has friends working other genres, don't trash their friends, thanks.
I _finally_ got my pre-order in (YAY ADHD)! I'm very excited for this next book in the series!
My good friend @drslayton.bsky.social has the second in his Gods of Night and Day coming out in June! If you order through Denver queer woman owned shop Books Are Awesome, you can get some good swag! (But you can find it wherever books are sold!)

But i'm in constant moral conflict with the way the models were trained, the way it's being forced into unhelpful areas. The way it's being used to justify headcount reductions without understanding.
It's a shitshow, and i'm just a little neurodivergent wanting to supplement my executive functions
The ability for me to break through my "wall of awful" and get to just doing performative creative work in my field (software engineering) while automating away a lot of the minutiae that I have to deal with. It's amazing!
My biggest gripe is the truly helpful use cases in my line of work for the neurodivergent individual, and the fact that most of these benefits get (sometimes rightfully, sometimes not) overshadowed by all the ways this new era was ushered in by unscrupulous actors.
Scalzi's piece does a great job of summing up a lot of the current state of "AI adoption"
Saving to my timeline that time I stuck my foot in my mouth :-)
Indeed, I fell victim to the 'reacting to the last post' trap. Silly me! Taking it from the top revealed the full story and the A+++ joke.
I shall retreat to my home for penance, and to clean this egg off my face.
Fair enough! Didn't read it as such.
Apologies to all if so!
"I like Meow Mix!"
A patient, thorough read of "Starter Villain" reveals Scalzi is in favor of labor unions.
The protagonist is definitely, DEFINITELY pro workers rights in that one.
Maybe read it again...
Barnes & Noble's preorder sale is running until the 26th and I have two books available as part of it: Backwoods Banshee and The Silent Paths of Night. It's 25% off and 35% for premium members!
Just head to barnesandnoble.com and use the code PREORDER25 at checkout.
Ok, now you have me curious! ...need to go back through them again :D
And way to tease! *waits impatiently for the cover reveal*
@drslayton.bsky.social another random Adam Binder series thought moment.
We've seen the swords. We've seen the cups. Any plans on wands and pentacles
You can take the man out of tobacco country, but you can't take the tobacco country out of the man....
It's definitely a wonderful book in its own right. And on top of that, it does a great job fleshing out the broader magical side of the Binderverse.
Isaac's story is definitely a very compelling one, and had me invested in it the whole time!
Hoping more people will find my magical school for everyone book.
A reluctant assassin, an elf boy with a secret, and dinosaurs.
Available everywhere, and however, you read:

If it is any of them, definitely Vran.
It's just one of your characters escaping the page and traveling back in time to sell you something.
@drslayton.bsky.social very random question I just had
I'm exploring my enjoyment of the urban fantasy genre (thanks to you and Adam, obviously), and am currently on my second pass of listening to the Dresden files.
Notably, there's a "Binder" there too. Any influences there? Or just coincidence?
Whatever you're going through, please know that Lego Adam Binder believes in you!
Me right now, but saying scalzi instead...
Why would a GOAT sci fi author want me to SEE this... *Sigh*

This right here basically sums up my opinion on linux distros.
I'm in the fedora camp for numerous personal reasons. You don't need to be in my camp. Be in the camp that fits you.
Indeed, but in the meantime, we can hope for a future that results with more Scalzi properties in visual mediums!
To be fair, yes, starter villian is a _very very_ close second. Primarily for the Dolphin translations. AND the pitch and pitch.
If I ever get to hear "tumescent cloaca" on the screen, that will make my millenia.
Of all the scalzi i've 'read' (listened to), I want that one the most.
They're just mad you weren't in Rogue One.
