Some people look at them that way now.

There's nothing subversive about that, it's pretty normal, even now.

I mean, the current occupant of that office is *currently* pro segregation, and then some. Not only 50 years ago but *now*.

I never wanted Biden, but better him than 4 more years of that shitbird.

Backlash against the Emancipation Proclamation, even. This should have been settled properly about 150 years ago, if not at the founding of the nation. Slavery-- and the systemic racism that supported it-- was always incompatible with the ideals of freedom, equality, and justice for all.

No one should have to thread this needle and it is a horror that one whose lost so much does it best.

Not a single thing we were told about #COVID turned out to be correct. A long thread 🧵

Sounds more like "The Epstein Story? Redact me out"

Well he obviously needs to be out of there as well.

We can't undo a lot of the damage that's been done in our name as a response to the attacks, but to repeal the Act and restore the American freedoms that were signed away in it, would seem to me to be the most patriotic and anti-terrorist first step we could take.

The goal of terrorism is to cause overreaction, and in that sense, the so-called "Patriot Act" was what made the 9/11 attacks a success.

I said what I said. Because if you think the goal of the attacks was to destroy buildings and kill thousands of people, then you fully misunderstand terrorism.

It was wrong at the time, too. But it's a nightmare to get something like that repealed once it's signed into law, apparently.

All of the 9/11 legislation needs to be ripped out. The world is a different place. Our money needs to be spent elsewhere.

Bin Ladin Determined To Strike in US - Wikipedia

A significant number of Americans are old enough to remember that we never needed a DHS to begin with. That the existing intelligence apparatus was sufficient to put this on Bush's desk en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bin_Lad... over a month before 9/11.

And those, in turn, are the people who set the standards and tone of the industry with their participation and complicity.

Again, there are exceptions and people in power who push for change, and I'm glad. But they're not yet a plurality. (cont'd)

The people who rise, who stay long enough to accumulate power and seniority, aren't all predators; but they are by and large--not universally, but mostly--people able to mesh with company and industry culture, to avoid damage and avoid being too impacted by the damage other people take. (cont'd)

Or they think they can use him to get what they always wanted that a just society would never permit.

This is great stuff, makes me want to play (in terms of in the creative sandbox, though I'm sure I'd enjoy playing the game as well)

I quite agree, but to take it back to the topic, generative AI is not like a drum machine. It doesn't seek simply to replace the instrument, but also the musician and the composer.

Yes there are parallels to other authoritarian regimes and their own violent thugs, also recruited because of their eagerness to exercise cruelty against their fellow human beings. Yes, these parallels are not coincidence.

They are old fashioned homegrown American lynch mobs, employed by a federal agency and deployed illegally against US citizens in American states that refuse to capitulate to the demands of the authoritarian regime that has compromised the Constitutional system of checks and balances on its power.

Alex Pretti's gun is like Renee Good's car: irrelevant to the central fact that they were murdered by ICE. ICE wants us to debate whether Pretti should have been carrying because that avoids the central fact. Pro-carry, anti-carry--that has as much to do w/ his murder as his fashion choices. Zero.

Makes sense. Regardless, this is the sort of atrocity that this out-of-control "administration" will gladly bring to all 50 states and beyond, if allowed to continue with their agenda.

Competent, where?

Are they saying that guns are dangerous and should be heavily regulated?

"Guns don't kill people" was a lie, then, huh?

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

No shock then if I were to be told that every fascist takeover is preceded by degradation of and devaluation of education within that territory.
