(3/3) As usual with sewage problems, SWBNO has been incredibly slow in even notifying City Hall. Mayor Moreno says she was told only this afternoon, nearly 24 hours after the break. There should be questions asked of SWBNO and their operator of their east bank sewage treatment plant, Veolia.

(2/3) The sewage system has some reserve capacity within its pipes, which would allow them to stop pumping through the broken main a little while (hours or days), but given the complexity of the repair, it's more likely they will just route that sewage to the river for as long as the repair takes.

SWBNO responds to major sewer main break into Industrial Canal, dumping wastewater Officials say crews are actively on site and at this time residents are asked to stay away from the area.

(1/3) To repair this sewer force main, SWBNO will possibly dump sewage to the river from the bypass upstream at Station D at Florida and Peoples Avenues, which is, I suppose better than sending sewage to the lake via the Industrial Canal as is occurring.

Board members of any board, including the SWB Board of Directors, can already be removed by the mayor with the consent of council under existing city ordinance, either for malfeasance or poor attendance.

Part of the bill is unrealistic. It allows drainage operations to be sliced out to city control from water and sewer. That is impossible since all the systems run off common power supplies (i.e. the new power complex) and share maintenance and operations employees and funding.

Fight over massive data center project Prince William Co. ends as leaders vote not to bring appeal to Virginia Supreme Court The county Board of Supervisors decided to end the lengthy battle to bring a massive data center project to Prince William County.

I think wusa9 is burying the lede on the latest news about the Digital Gateway data center project near Manassas battlefield: "The proposal included more than 35 data centers and 14 electrical substations across nearly 2,000 square feet of land."

Its more than annoying. I'm pretty sure a LOT of mom and pop news outlets like AP, Reuters, the Washington Post, and NY Times rely on people looking up breaking news in reverse chronological order, in order to drive eyeballs to their sites.

Just to be clear, this change destroys the idea of "breaking news" on Google. If the best you can do is look up non-ordered news articles (assuming your results are even news articles) in 24 hour window rather than a list in reverse chronological order, then the essence of news - "When" - is gone.

Its the same as Youtube. Your results for the last 24 hrs are not in reverse chronological order.

Click on sort by relevance, then try sort by date

Like they did with YouTube, Google has now removed sorting News results by date. Sorting by date produces a note: "when you refine a search, google may include search results other than new content," which translates to a garbage heap of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter AND Polymarket posts. No news.

It's still happening. This is a Google News search - sorted by date - which is now garbage, including Polymarket. They have allowed slop and trash into Google News results if you sort by date. It's the same move they made with YouTube.

Nope. This is still happening. They have turned off sorting News by date, opening up a firehouse of garbage results from Facebook, Twitter, and Polymarket.

Like they did with YouTube, Google has now removed sorting News results by date. They say "when you refine a search, google may include search results other than new content," which translates to a garbage heap of Facebook and Twitter posts. This was one of the few reasons I had for Google searches.

And for future reference, posting at them on Twitter and Facebook is the fastest way to get a response, including going to Council.

Take as many photos as you can of their work. There's a non-zero possibility they will mess it up. Pay special attention to how your meter gets reconnected.

That is standard procedure. I have seen it on multiple other cases of sewer line backups. One person even had the entire head of the department come out and yell at her before sending a camera down and discovering the problem was on the street side.

The sewer consent decree rewards sendings crews out quickly to inspect sewer problems, but contains no incentives to actually fix them. There are spots that get crews looking at them many times a month with no repairs performed.

Failure or multiple failures in the sewer line in the street? That's usually the way these go.

Keep posting about it. It is likely the only reason they are working on your job.

Also, are they really SWB staff or are they a contractor?

SWBNO runs three shifts: 7 AM to 3 PM, 3 PM to 11 PM, and 11 PM to 7 AM.

The Entergy substation was only a small portion of the overall power complex.

Fair share dollars paid for a large chunk of the new SWB power complex.

Paul Flower has an opinion from the state ethics board that the Infrastructure Advisory Board, which he chairs, is not a government body and has no real power over any public funds. He got the opinion to ensure IAB members would not have to comply with financial disclosure requirements.

Jokes on you! Watch the tax revenue roll in when oil prices quadruple with no other negative consequences to society!

It means there's a higher than average chance of another BWA until then, just as happened in Fontainebleau after the Claiborne failure.

"They" are not making anyone do anything. Tymrak is the no. 2 at the agency. She says her boss - who is also doing these videos - is in D.C. This is their choice. They think it is a good idea.
More importantly, it allows them to control the narrative.
