A fountain pen ink drawing of a coastal scene. The drawing is monochrome blue and created with a fountain pen line hatching shading technique

I want to read studies on the psychology of fountain pen inks.
Like, how frustrating is it that Diamine Potpourri is unscented? Or that KWZ Grapefruit smells of vanilla?
Would I still love Kitty Inkpot's Sparkling Grapefruit Wine if it was named Toxic Positivity instead? Or if I hated grapefruit?

If you’re interested in the pen in this video, it’s one that I make and sell, and it’s available here: thingsbydan.myshopify.com
I find this pen so much fun to draw with.
Times are tight at the moment so reposts are very welcome!

There is a trick to it. I watched a Youtube video guide on how to put TWSBI pistons back together right.
If the leak from the feed turns out to be from a crack (sadly common on injection moulded clear plastic) then contact TWSBI - they'll send replacement parts for just the cost of postage.

You would get so many more amazing books if you had Universal Basic Income. Not even the most dream-scenario AI could compete with the creativity of a world of authors no longer afraid of affording rent.

Ostrich Inks’ Red Ruby is a great red ink with bright metallic gold sheen. Gorgeous and well-behaved. (It made up for my disappointment at Octopus Phoenix, a hot pink that sheens matte orange if it feels like it).

I’m left handed too and some nibs do starve for ink when pushed instead of pulled, but most are fine for a leftie. I think the nib in the Pilot Custom 92 and maybe 74 are the only modern nibs I’ve encountered with the problem.
Until recently, Jinhao nibs often had pinched tines. It might be that.

Sounds like the nib may need a slight adjustment because you shouldn't need to press at all with a fountain pen. That's what makes them nice to use. They should just glide.

The wrench is a trap. It leads to watching 'how to re-assemble fountain pen' videos and then your youtubes are forever full of pen porn.
(if it's a TWSBI. If it's an Asvine wrench, you should be okay).

Looks close to Sailor Manyo Shirakashi on my monitor, but it's worth checking out other Sailor inks as they have a lot of these interesting, subtle sorts of hues and tend to be widely available.

I dropped them when they went to AI for the package art for their cats series. I saw last year they had gone with a named artist for their ink of the month, but I haven't seen any announcement on the subject of AI use.
I was just as gutted to see Galen Leather using hideous AI in Facebook ads.

A pair of earrings made out of gold and silver-coloured Jinhao fountain pen nibs, artfully posed on a clear glass pen rest with a page of vintage cursive writing as a backdrop.
Oh yes, they exist. :D

This is 100% why I use things like old mustard jars to clean pens and brushes. It's not so bad with ink but when you're painting in oils you don't want to accidentally sip turpentine.
(word of warning tho, hot water can damage some fountain pens)

Someone used a chatbot to write this article and didn't bother to read through it:
"England...provides one third of the seed potatoes used to make ceramics"
That's ware potatoes, as opposed to seed potatoes. I can't imagine a human writing for a potato industry website would make that gaffe.

Yikes, yeah. That's awful. I guess it needs an owner who just collects pens and doesn't actually want to be able to write with it.
Stories like this is why I have trust issues with companies that call themselves 'luxury' brands.

I've heard the problems are so common that people recommend budgeting in a trip to a nibmeister before you buy one.

It's a lovely looking pen but even the 'good' one I borrowed had so much baby's bottom on the nib that if it had been my pen I'd have sent it to be re-ground. It baffles me how they keep making the same QA mistakes.
