There were players & members who were involved with the military between 1890-1920, I've tracked over 40 players, fans, administrators who served in WWI for example, but that is comparable with other clubs like Drumcondra, Shamrock Rovers, Shelbourne etc.

Not as much as you might think Billy. There are references to former schoolmasters in the Hibernian school being involved early on, & there were players like Tom Parslow who represented "Hibernians" as they were known in hockey & Bohs in football. But there were no Hibernians mentioned as being...

But shall this crazed old man be tamely suffered to drag a whole ship’s company down to doom with him?
The story of the Bohs full-back who was poached by Manchester United, caused a minor sensation, went to War, was wounded 83 times, survived and continued playing football.

Ireland also played a match against French club side CAP on the way back from Italy. Styled as the "Irish nomads" they drew 1-1 thanks to a Bob Fullam goal.
Shown below is Mick "Boxer" Foley of Shelbourne captaining the side.
In that newspaper ad Ned Brooks of Athlone Town was listed at centre forward. Brooks missed the game after his son Harold was hit by a car & tragically killed while playing. Brooks' place was taken by Fran Watters of @shelbournefc.ie
On this day 100 years ago Ireland played Italy in Turin at Juventus' Corso Marsiglia stadium, losing 3-0.
The Italian FA did extensive promo for the game, enclosed is the stadium with the starting XIs listed from a newspaper ad.

For many years the FAI Cup final was a St. Patrick's Day affair - Bohs won their first FAI Cup on March 17th 1928 defeating Drumcondra 2-1.
The match was officiated by John Langenus who would take charge of the first World Cup final in 1930.

One of biggest issues with modern CL is how there are no longer exciting challengers that can emerge from non-super clubs, the necessary counters to giants - eg Kyiv 1997-99, Valencia 1999-2001, Lyon 2002-08 etc
But are Uefa thinking about this enough?

Here's your disappointingly regular reminder that it isn't a Panenka; it's a Roseboom.
The other is a reprint of possibly the first coaching manual written & published in Ireland, by Bohemian FC player, doctor & administrator Willie Hooper. It was first published in 1925.
The reprint includes a short bio of Hooper by Brian Trench

A few years ago I wrote about Ray Keogh, a star player in a golden age for Drumcondra and Ards in the 1960s
Came across this pic of Ray next to my Dad (the one with the ball at his feet) in 1971 when they won the Intermediate Cup with Tullamore.
