Artemis II’s a little over 3 hours away from the start of its launch window. Its mission involves a lunar orbit- the last mission to go anywhere near that far was in 1972.

Major european footballing nations failing to live up to expectation is major news in those countries with front page headlines virtually proclaiming the end of days, so I imagine whatever you’ve been hearing about CONCACAF places is far more about folk wanting to deflect pressure from themselves.

I’d not even noticed people making a fuss about CONCACAF places, but it’s obviously a huge area in terms of potential audience draw so it’s ridiculous to think there’d be some sort of recognition of that if nothing else…

Personally I think it’s important that smaller footballing nations have greater opportunities than they might based on FIFAs ranking system, but there’ll always be an outcry whenever a historically major football nation fails to qualify.

I’m not sure ‘Europe’ wants that at all, but obviously UEFA will campaign for as many places as they can get. FIFA being corrupt as hell doesn’t help things there, although dividing allocations is an impossible task with the level of variance their is geographically in the development of the game
