My physical & mental health means I struggle to attend in-person book events, so I was thrilled to be invited to join a select group of bloggers and @jenniegauthor.bsky.social to celebrate her upcoming book, The Barbecue at No 9, out in Feb (FYI Jennie is an absolute delight - I love her 💕)

My last monthly wrap-up of 2024, and it's been a busy one (I had a Disney novella advent calendar which explains the high total).

I read 38 in total. 16 ARC, 1 gifted, 21 I owned. 20 adult fiction, 15 children/YA, 3 non-fiction. 9 were debuts, and 12 were five-star reads.

All things considered, I'd say I was pretty restrained in my Black Friday book shopping 🙃

November started off really slow, I couldn't get into any book. But it soon picked up and I read some fantastic books!

I read 26 in total. 13 were ARC, 1 was gifted & 12 I owned. 17 were adult fiction, 3 children/YA, 5 non-fiction, and 1 poetry. 4 were debuts.

I have 32 books I want to read before the end of the year.

There are 38 days left in the year.

That equals 0.84 books a day for the rest of 2024.

Ambitious much? 🙃

Thank you @canongate.co.uk for my copy of One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This by Omar El Akkad.

This sounds like such a powerful book and very timely. I can't wait to read it.

Out in February.

Something a bit different for me tonight. I don't do horror generally but this sounded so unique that I'm giving it a go 😱

Can you find the hidden clues in these strange pictures and discover what connects them all?

There are some authors who I order without even checking what the book is about; Haruki Murakami is such an author.

This is an absolutely thrilling read. @annamazz.bsky.social has really embraced the thriller genre and it stands up to all I've read before. You all really need to get this on your 2025 reading list.

I'm not really active on here yet. I'm still trying to stick with the other one, but I just wanted to say hi to those already here.
