Thank you to Editor Valerie Rubino for including my memoir piece “Not Mad” in the summer issue of The Avalon Literary Review. It’s a story close to my heart.
What fun to get the Intrepid Award!
@intrepidusink.bsky.social Well, I’ve given birth, and there’s nothing like that mix of pain, emotion, and instincts to concentrate the mind! I did draw on my own experience. Doing it in few words is largely due to repeated rewrites, I’m a compulsive culler of words.
@intrepidusink.bsky.social I discover the tension, but initially I have placed a complex character in a challenging position, so the tautness is not hard to find. It’s a question of ushering the story along using careful pacing and those shift moments.
@intrepidusink.bsky.social I’m so honored to receive the award!
Thank you so much @intrepidusink.bsky.social
Wow! Very exciting to have my story Held Up cited in this essay @intrepidusink.bsky.social on shifts in stories. Thank you @allisonwrites.bsky.social
