Disney Animation remade three songs for ASL. For these, we resurrected the original data and pipeline version, reanimated (from near scratch in some places), relit where needed, and re-rendered. Probably the hardest way to do this, but definitely the right way to do it, so that's what we did!

the conclusions are very similar to what I feel so it was nice to see it much better articulated and with much more experience

PoM: A Linear-Time Replacement for Attention with the Polynomial Mixer
This paper is the result of doing a lab-wide hackathon on an idea I've had for some time. Probably the paper with the highest number of authors I've ever done.
It's a CVPR Findings 26.

A full disc image of Earth, as seen from the Orion Crew Module. The planet is a pale blue, swirling with white clouds and glowing slightly lighter blue in place from reflected light. At lower left, a large brown landmass is Africa, with Spain and Portugal with twinkling lights where the planet curves. At top right, auroras glow in a thin green glow, just barely separated from the planet's surface. Earth is set against the black of space (pic: NASA/R.Wiseman)
More context on this #Artemis II image:
* This is the night side, lit by moonlight. You can see city lights in Spain & Portugal, & a sliver of day at lower right
* The Sun is entirely behind Earth, which makes it a kind of solar eclipse, but w/ Earth doing the eclipsing instead of the Moon:

Google dropped 4 different Gemma open-weight models! I'm most excited that they're finally adopting a standard Apache 2.0 open source license.

I remember you could get the same behavior with the seahorse emoji glitch. I think it's definitely something that only happens with RL'ed models, the same way some people (anthropic?) showed it could tell if some tokens were injected in its context instead of produced by it.
This is a challenging legal problem for NeurIPS (and other conference participants)! You might be wondering how this is possible given the First Amendment?
I wrote a quick explainer on the current status quo of relevant First Amendment cases & law to get you up to speed.

God, I really hate what open source is becoming.
Commenting a humongous block of text as an "analysis" with a line at the end that you are an AI agent is not helpful.
Not to be dramatic but the volume of slop right now is an attack on maintainers.

Today NeurIPS is announcing our official satellite event in Paris.
After responding to the call from Ellis following the success of EurIPS in December, we are pleased to reach a new milestone by joining forces with the NeurIPS organizing committee for the 2026 edition.
So, um... this is bad. Really bad. I looked at the letters that were translated by the AI, and the very first one I found was almost entirely hallucination. Thread:

Happy to share a major milestone: after years of development, we are officially launching Version 1.0 of the GeometricKernels library!
To top it off, our accompanying paper has just been published in JMLR (MLOSS)! ๐

is the ่จ่ใฎใใฐใ a known reference? the color scheme of the screenshot reminded me of this other vocaloid song youtu.be/YBgzkksLURU but I was thinking of they were just drawing from a common source instead of being the newer referencing the older one

Accurate and thorough representation of prior and related work is one of the cornerstones of good research.
It is shocking to me that so many published NeurIPS papers, even from top institutions, have fabricated references.
I recommend reading the original report: gptzero.me/news/neurips/
