She is 13, 3 years above the average for her breed, so I knew something was on the horizon. I look on the bright side. Had the break happened later, the cancer would have been worse, and she might not have survived the amputation. I've now had 4 months and counting to make those last memories.

And she knows it. Sadly, while the physical rehab is good, the break was due to bone cancer that had metastasised. So it's as much about stretching her to get the most of the time we have left as looking to the future.

Because he knew that if he waited to October or even now the smoke and mirrors that Hunt put in place around the budget would have started to unravel when the lack of money for pay rises would have become common knowledge and people would have looked harder at the rest.

Welsh councils not expected to go bust, says Eluned Morgan Her prediction follows warning from a Labour council leader that bankruptcy risk had not gone away.

At least the First Minister is being consistent.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

But the real question now is, if she won't raise Welsh income tax levels to fill the gap why does she expect me as a Council cabinet member to recommend huge, regressive council tax increases instead?

Very happy to have been able to work with my counterparts in the SNP, GPEW and Scottish Greens to get this out quickly.

@welshlabour.bsky.social have a habit of throwing money at the NHS in the hope of solving its problems. But if instead it invested in Adult Social Care it could prevent a potential collapse of the sector and might free beds to bring waiting lists down at the same time

I'm really pleased to have spoken in favour of motions standing up for our family farms and seeking the rightful devolution of the Crown Estate revenue to Wales in today's
Powys County Council full council meeting.

Just in case anyone was tempted to believe Putin’s propaganda - here is a reminder that this week, 33 years ago, Ukraine 🇺🇦 voted for independence. A staggering 84% of the electorate voted, and over 90% of them voted for independence.

No 10 indicates Benjamin Netanyahu faces arrest if he enters UK Downing Street refuses to comment on the case but says the government will fulfil its

They should not be allowed to hide behind religious dogma like a child hiding behind a parents legs when they are in the wrong.
Nor should British subjects be made complicit in his crimes by our government failing to respect the treaties its signed up to & arrrest them.

This really should be simple for them. They've condemned the Hamas hostage taking & said Israel has a right of defense. But using starvation as a weapon has no place in lawful warfare. Both men should face up to the accusations against them and if innocent walk free.

Its an international arrest warrant for 2 men accused of starving children to death. Why is it so hard for the PM to say yes the UK will execute the warrant?
Every day he stays silent he fuels the conspiracy theories of antisemites & places the Jewish community at risk.

ICC issues arrest warrants for Netanyahu, Gallant and Hamas commander International Criminal Court judges say there are “reasonable grounds” they bore

The final fig leaf is gone. The Foreign Secretary should be at the dispatch box as soon as possible, confirming that the UK will enforce these warrants if the opportunity arises and stating that previously prepared sanctions against Gallant will be enacted.

I have seen, in confidence, the initial estimates for Powys. I cant share them yet, but what I can say is Rachel Reeves may have announced massive increases in council funding but is robbing Peter to pay Paul as they will be used to meet most of this pressure. Council tax will pay for the rest.

In Powys that £95k rise would equate to an increase in council tax of 0.1%. But it isn't just 1 care home provider. It's every care home, dom care provider, school transport company, outsourced service, and.. well the list is endless.

With 77 residents, and 130 staff Cariad Care Homes in Gwynedd have revealed the NI hike will directly cost them £95,795. They dont know the supply chain impact. They are in the Local authority market and will increase costs to the council to stay afloat.

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance. Each year, the trans community loses too many lives, especially trans women of color, to hate and violence.

More than ever, we must stand by our trans family and support them, hold space for them, and insist the scapegoating and targeting stop.

Now.

I really don't think the Chancellor has thought through the huge impact her NI changes are going to have on the contract inflation costs of local government next year.

We should find out that the use of Storm Shadow has been authorised, when airfields and ammunition dumps in Russia, being used to terrorise #Ukraine, are struck by the missiles, and not before.
The only people who benefit from advanced knowledge of the use of Storm Shadow is Putin and the Russians.

I see that a collection of MPs have taken it upon themselves to “launch” a private prosecution, in relation to a case which is still awaiting a CPS charging decision.

What might be the problems with this? 🧵

“There were at least two years where we didn’t have eyes on children. We just didn’t have that constant focus that our schools bring.”

That is a huge admission and has to be a major safeguarding failure if you take it at face value.

Indeed. When they rounded up the Japanese Americans, myself and my family included, for internment during WWII out of fear over Japanese spies and saboteurs, two thirds of us were U.S. citizens.

Don’t think it won’t happen again when they come for the “undocumented.”

This would cover the vast majority of small family farms, wouldn't have created a climate of fear and persecution, and could have been framed as a crackdown on farms used as a tax break reducing prices and allowing new entrants a chance to buy a farm.

I'm no tax expert but if the £1m Farm allowance is £3m when you add other inheritance tax exemptions. Why didn't the Chancellor merge them all together and say that for estates involving the transfer of farmland within the family, there is a single £3m allowance and nothing else.
