Dudes will practice their tactical reloads on the weekend but never practice a tactical gear shift to reverse.

I should add that any senate move to decouple probably triggers a shutdown or necessitates a CR because senate passed bills would need to be sent back over to House if negotiations do happen. So maybe Rs opt for a short term CR to work this all out.

They’re combined in the senate currently. House peeled the dhs bill off the package to help manage the politics. They could be separated again, but senate will likely need to do some sort of negotiation in order to pass a dhs approps bill.

Children of Men is good. Amazing how topical it still is, while still bringing me back to the days of W and Iraq.

Sounds difficult. There’s few things as rewarding / humbling as watching a former near-peak professional teach their craft. Helps most of us realize we’ll never get close to the mountain top.

The 14th is the expiration date of the current budget CR, not the date we’ll hit the debt ceiling.

If not raised, the debt ceiling date will be sometime in May, June, or July and is variable depending on tax receipts during the ongoing tax season.

Tribune: One initiative Pritzker plans to present is a proposal to make it easier for voters to reduce or eliminate local township government by petition. The move would resurrect a decades-long effort to abolish townships, a centuries-old form of government that has perpetuated itself by providing powerful fiefdoms for local politicians and a place for nepotism and double-dipping. Critics argue that township services could be accomplished less expensively by cities or counties at a savings to property taxpayers.

Good but let's do counties, school districts, and municipalities so we can really get cookin'.

As a Michigan-based advocate, I wish I was so lucky as to be experiencing nothing right now.

Yes. Thank you, it’s been a while since I moved. Multiple great bike trails. I used to ride one of those trails to downtown almost everyday. Austin has great bike infrastructure!

Austin bouldering project on Springfield is what you’re looking for. Stay in the Govalle neighborhood so you can get breakfast tacos at Marcelino’s.

I don’t have a reference handy, but Guelzo’s excellent book on Gettysburg refers to a specific Union Corp that largely spoke German and whose officers were made up of mostly ‘48ers’

Have worked closely with pollsters. Sophisticated ones use the voter file and match info from that with commercially obtainable data sets. If a respondent answers a question in a way that doesn’t match the back end info the pollster has, they toss the respondent.
