Last week I shared that I’m hiring a junior designer, but, also, our trade art department as a whole has a total of 5 open roles right now. All new seats, not from turnover.

A photo of a ceramic lynx. The lynx has a multi colored glaze over brown clay.
A different angle of the same lynx sculpture showing its three yellow eyes.
Something a little different, a three eyed lynx creature! The glaze on this piece is especially satisfying. It’ll be available this Friday, March 13th at 8pm Eastern time.

Even FA still gets a lot of traffic, but not a lot of activity? Like when I first joined I was heartened that people actually left comments, and that fell off dramatically years ago. I appreciate that creatives have made an effort to engage more w each other on here at least.
Nah, I totally agree and it's part of what I meant to get at. People are too used to being able to have everything in one convenient hub, including us as artists.
that we don't have time/energy to devote to an art community for the sake of it. I've seen complaints about how people don't do tutorials and resources and stuff for free like they did on dA, and it's like... I wish I could!! Unfortunately I need to eat!!
I agree, and also don't know if there's a good solution. I think gallery sites that don't already have renown (ie FA) tend to die off pretty quick because they don't catch on with a general audience, and therefore clients/customers. So probably a big part of the issue is we're all stretched so thin-

Knit Buffalo’s Felted Buffalo
Last fall I sold at my first local event since moving to upstate New York, and there I connected with a fellow fiber enthusiast who travels the region selling hand dyed yarn and fiber out of a yarn van! She commissioned a little friend to travel along with the van
I think balance really just is it. I don't want to be hypocritical as they make up a decent chunk of my income atp, but I'm definitely trying to figure out how to transition away from using lots of plastic when it seems like the trend is strongly in the opposite direction...
Been struggling a lot the last few weeks, but I can feel the approach of spring starting to energize me a bit, even if it's currently snowing. Excited for things to green up, even if my allergies don't agree.

Long, firm, tubular body, DEEP blue eyes, really wonderful expression. he is so calm, confident, really in charge here. Big, bouncy ears, perfectly set, a slender, whippy tail, and of course, those smooth, vibrant ribbons. Best in show.
