The Disappearance of the Public Bench Benches are microcosms of an expansive debate about who belongs in urban public spaces. When they are removed or made uninviting, we lose more than just a place to rest.

Yet again I remind everyone (as Elizabeth does in her very next tweet) that "foreigners are corrupting our pure blood with weakness & disease" is Fascism 101. Not some variant, not some metaphorically similar thing, not some echo -- the thing itself.

What is this Government’s vision for the future of young people in Ireland?

In at least one Dublin house, dozens are sharing overcrowded rooms and paying hundreds for a bed.

This is not a housing system. It is a return to tenement conditions.

Ah yes, we should definitely add influenza outbreaks to risks associated with military deployments, where service members live in cramped crowded quarters for extended periods of time. That won't affect our military's readiness and morale.

15% of fossil fuels extracted each year are used to make fertiliser, run farms, process foods and transport them. In a very real sense our food is made from oil and gas.

We are about to feel a very painful food shock.

I was surprised to find a 5 letter word I'd never heard of before

Ambit
/ˈambɪt/
Ambit is a noun referring to the bounds, limits, or scope of something, particularly the range of authority, influence, or action.

You learn something new every day...

Hey folks, I've added Mouse: P.I. For Hire to my Steam curator page with a very enthusiastic thumbs up! I had been eagerly looking forward to this game, and it did not disappoint! I couldn't wait to give it my recommendation, because it's been a thorough delight so far and I can't wait to play more!

What baffles me almost more than the ongoing hell of Palestine, is that Lebanon is still a nation.

This isn't the same as decades of ethnic cleansing and waves of "cutting the grass" genocide.

It is a war on your neighbours for daring to be there.

And yet, similar silence from the world.

Contrary to public perception a huge % of pregnant teenagers in the 1990s were impregnated by adult men. The younger they were, the larger the average age gap between mother and father was. Fixing teen pregnancy was in part a clampdown on statutory rape. That's what conservatives want to reverse.

the most interesting thing about this story is not the survey itself—which is a year old and has since been retracted over huge problems with the sample—but that media outlets keep trying to push stories of a massive religious revival among the young in absence of any evidence

"Humans won't work unless they're forced to" is a myth for stupid people. If you're paying attention, humanity loves to do the job... they just don't like to be exploited and abused just to survive, the 2 tools people THINK you need to inflict upon humans to make them work.

Vibing in the golden hour low sunlight in light spring layers and a long flowing coat.

Walking on a dream playing.

Texting the group chat that I'm on my way.

Almost missed my bus, cause the vibes were just so strong.

After selling Adare train station for €216k just over a decade ago, Irish Rail pays €2m to buy it back for temporary Ryder Cup platform Irish Rail has bought back the station house and grounds at Adare's former train station for €2 million to accommodate a temporary station for the Ryder Cup, prompting a rail advocacy group to question spending public funds on a temporary platform rather than a longer-term solution. According to the Property Price Register, the station was sold for €2 million at the end of last year, after being sold in 2013 for just €216,121.

"The rise of extreme wealth is one of the clearest signs of this imbalance. In 1987, billionaires held wealth equal to 3% of global GDP. Today this tiny elite, just 0.0001% of the world population, owns the equivalent of *16%* of world GDP in wealth."
