Almost 10 years after his passing, the two of them continue to check in on me at least monthly. I haven't seen the guy I thought was his best friend since the funeral. But I always feel really good when I get to speak with them or see them.

My dad had a lot of friends. I watched him suffer to help them. Most skipped his funeral. There were two guys I never recall meeting before. One went to school with him, one was in the marines with him. They knew so much about me, had pictures of my sister & I. It was jarring.
