We need the right homes, in the right place, at the right price.
An obsessive focus on housing numbers fails to take the holistic approach needed.
We have already seen the results of this numbers game - developments built on green fields delivering high-priced, car-dependent homes without the required local services, GPs, shops, public transport.
Homes should be built to meet the needs of local communities, rather than what offers developers the greatest profit.
That means a high proportion of new homes must be truly affordable council & social housing built to the highest environmental standards so energy bills are kept low.
Insult to local democracy: local people & those elected to represent them should have the right to have a say over major changes to their local community. Instead, the government seems happy to bulldoze its way through the local planning system & pander to the interests of private developers.
National Planning Policy
Painting the local planning process as the ‘block’ on achieving housing targets is misguided.
There are over 1 million homes with planning consent in the UK waiting to be built. District planning authorities approve the majority of planning applications.

Following the sudden closure of Brundall pharmacy four weeks ago when an agency substitute pharmacist failed to turn up, Well Pharmacy assured me they would ensure customers can access their prescriptions. I believe the pharmacy has maintained their opening hours but let me know if this changes.
