Finally, revenge for 1992. Grew up as a Newcastle fan from age 5 in Bournemouth. The 0-0 first tie at Dean Court was my second ever football match. Coming into school after losing the replay on pens was not fun.

Don’t make it easy on ourselves, do we?

If you listen to Newcastle home matches on BBC Radio Newcastle, every single match there’s clearly audible old bloke sitting near the commentators who only ever seems to scream, “What are you doing, referee?” #NUFC

Pleased to see Sean Neave and Alex Murphy on the bench. Need some of the young guys to be given a chance to put a bit of heat on the first-teamers and give us options. Be good to see Park featuring on the bench soon, too

Did we get anything at all for Kuol?

A pretty impressive record considering who he and Steve Nickson have brought in compared with actual sporting directors Ashworth and Mitchell. However, hope to see a long-term SD (as well as CEO) appointed as soon as this window closes.

Could be a surprise or two. Midfield reinforcement?

I hate to say it but are we expecting any more NUFC business today? Incoming or outgoing.

I’m 46. Feeling a bit giddy.

Should probably stay off social media until 6:55pm

Woltemade + Wissa. Has a ring to it.

Embarrassing WW headlines incoming.

(Don’t mention the war.)

Wissa, despite recent behaviour. He’s made it clear he wants Newcastle and has a proven record

If this is even a half-serious conversation we need 2x strikers coming in. Must be a loan as can’t see any PL club shelling out ££ based on his record.

Late reply but the official interview on the club socials and app. No announcement yet about the new Adidas gear but he’s wearing it and Mad Dog’s been rocking a black tracksuit in the same style.

As well as the excitement of welcoming Nick Woltemade, there’s some absolutely cracking Adidas Originals gear on the way! Love that drill top Nick’s wearing. Real Keegan and Terry Mac vibes. And am coming round to the idea of the early 80s NUFC badge becoming our official crest.

I have never heard of him but that’s exciting, isn’t it. Please someone tell me everything about him, how to pronounce his name and where he gets his hair done (same place as AG10?)

I assumed the squad ‘family’ BBQ to be a case in point. Whether directly by Howe or influenced by senior players. Think there’s a bit of ‘no player bigger than the club’ tough love going on. And I hope not ostracisation, or burning bridges beyond point of no return on either side.

I get that. I do. But I think there’s a nuanced position between all-out boycott and fingers-in-ears denial (not directed at you) where we can support our team and also ask questions or voice dissent. And you’re right… the saintly billionaires do not exist. All power corrupts, etc…

No, but more of us could probably say it’s not OK a bit more often (myself included) while continuing to support our team

Reading (not so much) between the lines, when Eddie Howe refers to ‘discussions’ being had, I infer he’s not only talking about with Isak himself but among the wider squad including the powerful leadership group taking a stand. #NUFC
