Average pub date of the 32 books banned in Utah is 2009. Many of the parents complaining had those very books on shelves when they were in high school and they weren't hurt by them then.

Yeah, I'm not sure about it either. But they're putting $$$$ behind it, that's for sure.
I'm pretty sure it's an alternate universe, since he runs as a joke (or to impress a girl, I can't remember what I read). That then there are enough teen leaders to meet for an international summit...I think it's meant to not be rule following.
It is super cute.
You'll be --shocked--to hear they've closed now.
One of them sent out a newsletter this week that called ALA a "multimillion dollar organization."
I DIED.
Do they not know what a minus sign means?

Illinois District 65–Evanston and Skokie–are "reassigning" middle school librarians. There will no longer be certified librarians in those schools. An absolutely unnecessary change that has an immediate impact on children's education: evanstonroundtable.com/2026/04/21/a...
From last fall–the ways states are cutting taxes and the immediate and swift impact it has on public goods and services like libraries. It's sneaky and it's destructive: buttondown.com/wellsourced/...
Florida's governor wants to cut property taxes, and if that happens, it will have a swift and immediate impact on public libraries throughout the state. Recall–this is a new tactic of defunding public institutions.

Thank you! I actually ended up hearing from numerous folks that helped so I think I am good now.
Don't forget that PragerU is who crafted the 14 million dollar "Freedom Trucks" project from the IMLS. They stole that money from us, the taxpayers, for a propaganda project.

From 2023, SkyTree Book Fairs, created by folks who lied about being hurt by a book: bookriot.com/skytree-book...
PragerU is now launching its own book fair to "compete" with scholastic. It sounds like they're maybe absorbing the SkyTrees Book Fairs, which started with the same nonsense.

16 and 17 year olds get to vote in the Newark, New Jersey, school board election.
This should be the standard. Their lives are directly affected by whoever sits in those seats.

Soooo, now that this data is available to EVERYBODY, it should be even more apparent to schools and librarians that OnShelf/BookmarkED is a waste of money. 👀
I may have someone but I will ping you if not! Thank you!
How long retired? If it's recent (last year or two) that works! If longer, someone more recent would be great. Mostly trying to confirm some information and share some that isn't super pleasant!
PM folks: Do I know any librarians at New York Public Library? Please DM me. I've got a question!
Screenshot of a search in the new censorship database from ALA for my book BODY TALK. It's seen 12 attempts at censorship, including 9 in school libraries and 3 in public libraries.
The ALA Office of Intellectual Freedom released a Censorship Search Portal with more than 30 years of data on book bans.
I have tracked the banning of my own books–all have been there–but this is higher than my count, even!
Here's the database: www.ala.org/bbooks/censo...
