The director of wicked has went on record saying he wanted oz to feel loved in and not a 12 year olds dream. But he missed the mark by zapping contrast out of the movie. Unless if you have cataracts real life has plenty of contrast.

But at the end of the day. It's all a choice. The camera is merely a tool.

For future reference I urge you to use actual movie stills and not production stills. 9 out of ten 10 movies don't look like their production stills.

It's why the movie looked its best in the emerald City castle when they let shadows be shadows. And not try to pull out every detail of the face like they do during day shots.

Cameras nowadays have more dynamic range then ever before Meaning they can pull insane detail out of the shadows that you wouldn't even see with the naked eye. So directors demand to see everything giving us the wicked look. You do that you reduce the contrast giving the illusion of no color.

I agree. I just think the line is blown out of proportion. Like the rest of the movie... It's just mid. It has its moments good and bad. I just think it's blown out of proportion.
