What these admins will never tell you is that the *courses* in these majors are often full. Students don't *major* in these fields, but they really want to take the classes. They use number of majors as a metric on purpose so they can achieve their cuts.

I've said it before, but Francis backed Leo because Leo is a better diplomat than he was. Francis spoke off the cuff too much, and he knew it. Leo chooses his words carefully, but this is not just knowing when and how to duck. He seems to understand force and how much he can get away with.

But there is a balance to be struck, and it requires the one thing that is hardest to do when you're twenty-four and anxious about your future: prioritizing long-term understanding over short-term output. Nobody has ever been good at that. I'm not sure why we'd start now.
This is about astrophysics and AI, but any teacher on any level in any field should read this for the same reason that you should read anything: it's true, it's beautiful, and it's good.
