How exactly is it possible for it to not be both?

2 years ago 0 0 0 0

Efficiency isn't the limiting factor, the reason the canal speeds are what they are is because they tend to be quite narrow, so the waves end up significantly degrading the banks and disturbing wildlife. And I think you end up trading off a significant amount of space for better hydrodynamics

How does this square with the fact that the best forecasters tend to be non experts

How can you not just want to *hang* with this guy?

(PLEASE, Bluesky, give us at least a little bump on image quality? This bird is gorgeous in the full-resolution version.)

That was my guess.

There are a variety of right wing positions I can at least understand, even if I vehemently disagree. This one is quite straightforwardly evil.

I don't know many right wingers since I don't speak to my family and my social circle is almost entirely graduates/students

If this is a natural disagreement between the right and the left my one and only response to the right is: you are an enemy of anything good and I will do everything I can to crush you underneath my boot.

I've heard that there exist any surgeons that will perform vaginoplasty without removing your penis, but it's very niche and very new

I mean. No? Can you explain concrete reasons why this is bad?

2 years ago 0 0 2 0

Yea. I would say you're definitely not trans in any of the ways that term is typically used, but your experiences are also very common and one day we will transcend. This is why I'm going to be doing aging research.

You can identify as trans(humanist!), Transhumanism is the entire reason I'm trans. I want my body to be a particular way, the technology exists to do that, so I'm doing it because that is the glory of modernity.

Oh how terrible, the kids are identifying as bisexual and are more willing to experiment with the other gender, society is collapsing whatever shall we do. Even if you're worried about people having kids, a bunch of Kinsey 1's identifying as bi is not. What effects do you expect that to have

At risk of being dogpiled, I think it is increasingly the case that LGBT identification is socially valuable for young people, based on "I tried to force myself to be gay for social reasons, and I'm not that weird", but I also don't really think this matters very much.

Interestingly my own experience with this is that I tried very hard to convince myself I was gay at 13, failed, and later spontaneously became bi. I think bisexuality is probably reasonably common, but in the sense that most people are like Kinsey 1's, and now identifying as bi is fairly low cost

The fact that anecdotal accounts of bihacking so consistently fail point me against this for what it's worth

In principle my stance is "You're trans if you say you are", but I think people who only socially transition have something distinct going on relative to people who physically transition, so that's the way I tend to cluster things.

True enough though wise to not overstate it. It's probably a generational thing but I know quite a lot of people for whom social advantages of womanhood were a significant factor. The big one is that people stop seeing you by default as a threat. Especially in queerer environments tbh

Heh, it's very possible that I'm the version of you that's born 10-20 years later

2 years ago 1 0 1 0

To me "trans" basically refers to "people using chemical or surgical interventions to give themselves certain physical characteristics opposite their ASAB

2 years ago 3 0 1 0

Yea, my own experience is that I drastically prefer looking like a woman, and given that the social role of trans woman is the most pleasant thing to occupy. I was utterly horrified at the prospect of completing male puberty, but nothing else about me has really changed since I transitioned

Let's not let environmentalists off the hook here

Honestly this might be for the better. Taking Cypro means chronic progestin exposure at the start of transition. There's a study on how this effects boob growth that's finished data collection but hasn't published. I might email the authors asking for the raw data

Strongly suspect this is one of those "biology is weird and not consistent at all things". The role of prog in cis breast development are not known and notably cis women with androgen insensitivity don't seem to have smaller breasts

I think the assertion that all of these were done without any implicit threat of violence or could have been achieved without real violence is the same level of partisan bullshit everyone else is engaging in. I think people with no theory of change should stop having opinions about this topic

We're not talking with our oppressors calm the fuck down. We're talking to random people on a website, where hostility is especially useless. Hysterical trannies my God
