Golf is also really exciting and competition kinda exists but again, your opponents skill has no bearing on your own but people like Sergio and Tiger beefed famously (mainly through Sergio). Compared to something more PvP like team sports or 1v1 tennis, where competition and elitism is assumed.

I think this question is largely context dependent. Sports culture is hugely varied and something like bowling, like my favorite analogy for Shiny Hunting, is going to be a more friendly and less trash talking (though it does exist) than something like football where some players HATE eachother.

The easiest way to cite a source in the grand scheme of content creation and gear is Matt having a fairly low end and not curated set up. Sure he does have access to some stuff but his early and near recent work has been lo-tech and high quality. It’s all love of the game.

The most damning part about it is that this same thing played out in the first PHASE discord before it went dark. People were doing a run on cap cards and controller mods because “Ytuber/Streamer” has a bunch and *I* need a full set up to hunt. Like no fam, you don’t. You shouldn’t think that way.

Fishing week, along with a few others, got lost twice past couple years being overshadowed by safari week. I don’t think it’s a knock on either, it’s just a scheduling thing events will need to consider. Safari week will consume June whether people want it to or not.

If you feel this strongly about the field in terms of non-fullodds events, then you should make your own. There’s a lot of non 8192 events potential but i don’t know if there’s interest. A lot of what makes the FO events fun/special *is* that level of “this took 5ever to get” and obtuse hunts.
