I work for state government and I can confirm it used to work this way, mostly. Now it's more like six months or never. Everything is falling apart from the inside out. Budgets are being slashed. Everyone is snapping and scared! It's fucking awesome. Good thing I'm anon on here.

The fact that Mamdani just seems like a cheerful normal guy who's policies are things like "we're going to tax second homes to fund pothole repairs" or whatever and yet this generates panicked responses like "This is basically Stalin's great purge turned up to eleven" is... telling. I would like to add I don't actually think this would be fair to citizens in states with a shitty Medicaid system and funding is probably something I don't quite grasp. But in terms of being person centered and caring about healthcare, some states are already ahead of the game and making efforts.

States manage their Medicaid systems but they operate under Federal Oversight through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. There are Federal Rules and State Rules and then once a person turns 65 they might have both Medicare and Medicaid.

Idk. I actually work for our State Medicaid system and frankly we could do a much better job taking care of our citizens without all this bullshit Federal oversight.
