Me and my brother had a very similar discussion about this. It really makes you appreciate education much more than “you’ll need this for a job”. It elevates education from a tool for employment into something more transcendent.

A lot of the stuff they teach us in school is about teaching methods of thinking, processes of learning, but instead we get hung up on "when are we gonna need to know this specific thing," and how that specific thing is gonna get us a job or not later.
