80s magazine covers sometimes weren’t the most exciting. But inside this unassuming Doctor Who Mag (on sale this week in 1991) was something Death’s Head comics fans would’ve had a blast with! 😂 See what I’m banging on about in the latest post now up on the OiNK Blog. 💀🦾🐽

I began with episode 1 two years ago and now… episode 730 and I finally get to meet my favourite companion again! Haven’t seen this season in years, it’s going to be great! 👩🏾⚕️❤️🟦❤️

35 years ago today a certain Freelance Peacekeeping Agent called Death’s Head was just one of dozens of funny cameos in a Doctor Who Magazine comic strip. I’d great fun spotting everyone in this very ‘80s’ bar brawl and you can check out highlights for yourself on the OiNK Blog now. 💀🦾🐽
I like to have something on in the background while writing. With the constant stream of bad news on the telly thank goodness for the Pluto TV app and their 24-hour The A-Team channel! (Although I will flick over to CNN during the Hulk Hogan episode.)
We’re officially halfway through the series. Our 38th Marvel UK checklist is accompanied by two ads. Which issues did you own? Anything remain particularly memorable about them? I share my own thoughts on the blog.
The full Mighty Marvel UK Checklist series is here: oink.blog/2026/04/15/t... 📚✅🐽
An old friend came round last night and it appears Smudge has made a new friend! Just as well, since Kirsty had already fallen in love with him and agreed to be his cat sitter when needed lol! 😂
A good head scratch to start #Caturday after a late night for both of us watching splashdown.
Same.
Joy and relief they’ve come home safely.
We Needed This🩷
Thank you Artemis II Crew

Smudge was glued to the screen and would jump down from my lap every time the interior of the capsule was shown. ❤️
He’s fascinated every time the inside view switches to inside the Orion capsule 😻 He’s been jumping down off my lap every time! #ArtemisII
I was not prepared for the end of this week’s For All Mankind. Took me back to mum and dad two years ago… 😢
My first machine I played games on was the C64, but console-wise it was the original GameBoy for handhelds and then the 3DO (Panasonic FZ-10 model) for home consoles.
GB photo is my current one, 3DO is a stock photo although I’d love to own one again.
I kick myself that I never kept mine long. At the time I thought it was more a novelty but now I just want to play it! Might have to invest in one again.
Fancy reading ten novels? Then check out my OiNK Blog! 🐽 Based on the word count for On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (that I happened to be reading when I began this spreadsheet) that’s how much I’ve written since I began this version of the classic comics blog five years ago. Not bad going!
It was all change for Transformers and it grabbed the top spot back in 1989. Another comic was renamed & a fan favourite Doctor Who GCN was out. Do you remember any of these particular issues?

Illustrator Dave Huxley spoke to the Crikey! comics fanzine back in 2008 about his experience of working for OiNK comic. You can read his whole article on the OiNK Blog in the latest post here: oink.blog/2026/04/04/c... 🖼️🐽
Our street had a little visitor last night ❤️ Needless to say Smudge was glued to the window looking out for ages!

The water effects, especially when swimming on the surface, have never been beaten!
Selling 4 HomePods (I’ve 3 more linked to my TV for great stereo sound…hint, you could do that too with these!). Unboxed but they’re in as-new condition. Worth £500 if bought new, selling for £300. Collection only but willing to meet in Belfast city centre to give them to you, too. DM if interested.
Enjoying his Easter Sunday.
Easter Sunday, a day to lie back, stuff our faces full of chocolate eggs and do as little as possible, surely? A perfect day to catch up with the OiNK Blog then? Recently: The last Aliens, Davy Francis’ shoebox (really), loads of Marvel Checklists, and OiNK in Crikey: oink.blog/2026/04/04/c... 🖼️🐽
Someone said to me, "I'm sorry but I got your book from a library." Nobody should ever apologise for that. You read my book! That's brilliant! I grew up hanging out in libraries and the idea of a world without them fills me with dread. Without libraries, authors, like readers, will only suffer.
Mona Lisow, Hamformers and The Statue of Piggery. In 2008 the comics fanzine Crikey asked artist Dave Huxley to talk about contributing to OiNK. You can read his full article here in the latest post on the OiNK Blog. 🖼️🐽
I just bought a refurbished one last year and have no intention of using ROMs. I’m treating this like a main console alongside my Switch 2, I’m buying only real games for it too.
I think watching For All Mankind really brought home the gravity (sorry!) of what this meant, what this moment was. Sat up watching it here in Belfast, Ireland with Smudge last night on the NASA TV app. So exciting!
Working on a fun little post for the blog. This issue of Doctor Who Magazine is getting included because of ONE comic strip panel. It’s all a bit of fun. Coming later this month to the OiNK Blog. 💀🦾❤️🟦❤️
I think watching For All Mankind has really highlighted the gravity (groan) of this moment and the Artemis II launch. Suitably though, a full moon over Belfast tonight too. Witnessing history with Smudge.
