Acknowledging the stark, ugly truth that the Republicans basically had no good reason to do what they have done for the last 11 years and have lapsed into vast collective psychosis over totally immaterial and utterly depraved delusions is terrifying, and as such most commentators simply do not do it

My most liberal idpol radlib take is that I think it's pretty bad that
right wing forces are actively intervening on behalf of the Klan with the full weight of the state legal apparatus
If you intentionally inflate a statistic by a factor of *62,000* you can't do anything to tackle the issue because an intervention targeted for 62 million is inherently going to be designed and executed differently than an intervention for 1000
I'm having trouble articulating this but 38% of US males (the 62 million figure) only invites paranoia and doomerism instead of solutions because it's so inaccurate. It's not good, you know, 1 is too many, but 0.0006% of US males is a number that can theoretically be targeted for intervention.
virginians, if you planned to vote in today’s election & have not already: don’t forget we have same day, in person registration AND if you’re 17 but will turn 18 before nov 3, you can register and vote today.
(post from the charlottesville office of voter registration & elections)
Republicans know they are about to lose the House and are trying to give Big Oil its holy grail: legal immunity from any futures actions that would hold the industry responsible for the climate crisis it knowingly caused and is making worse every day.

A photorealistic mask of Clara Peller, the woman who shouted "Where's the Beef?" in old Wendy's commercials. The mask features her wavy grey hair and a string of pearls. The eyes are cut out, giving an incredibly unsettling appearance
Just so everyone is aware, as a promotion in 1984, Wendy's produced terrifying, photorealistic carboard masks of Clara Peller, aka the "Where's the Beef?" lady
Well, they have "If you talk shit about the Democrats, I will respond with extreme prejudice." in their bio, so, quite a bit is wrong with them
A bottle of "super idiot drink" It says 激バカDrink (Geki-baka Drink) Geki- means "violence" so a more literal translation might be "drink for people who are violently dumb"
The Texas Observer is ten times better and infinitely less evil than the Atlantic. Reading it is universally beneficial and if you subscribe you’re helping sustain real progressive independent journalism in Texas
Gil Duran tweet: TLDR: Fascism in response to Palantir's long fascists screed on X.
"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X
The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.
I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).
So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.

Gonna spend the next two years spamming every elected Dem about the concept of "damnatio memoriae." Chisel his name off every inscription. Build over the various Trump Towers like they're Nero's Golden House. Remove him from physical memory, not to forget but as a sign of disrespect to the man.

The number of times I've seen "They block [account]. Why are you following a person who'd do that?"
Please get a grip. It's not quite as bad as the early days On Here when people were insisting that mass-blocking campaigns were "virtual enforced disappearance" but c'mon
Jake Crapper
The thing about blocks being public on here is people will trawl through them and decide you fundamentally oppose their views or activism but a solid portion of people I’ve blocked are people I agree with but find personally annoying and I think that’s the case for many people
this is where I am.
