Why do we love sports in a way that makes us feel so bad just so that maybe eventually it will feel really awesome? Asking for a friend.
My 4-year-old looked out the window at the snowfall this morning and let out a dramatic and exasperated sigh, then said “UGH. I’m going to have to shovel again.”
(Reader: he has never been responsible for the shovelling, and has helped do it once this year.)
Good old Leader Magazine resource! I thought they did a particularly phenomenal job of putting this one together. I'm curious to know how all the different churches approached it!
This past Easter's sermon meant a lot to me to write and speak. Check it out if you're so inclined! Available on most (all?) podcast platforms.

“We don’t like a pope who thinks it’s okay to have nuclear weapons” says man with one of the world’s largest arsenals of nuclear weapons.
It is weird to go from "why are multiple people posting about the Pope?" Then seeing a screenshot of President Trump's very long post about the Pope, and remembering I could do anything else but read all of that.
Evidence of three unanswered Montreal goals: our oldest has started searching for his noise cancelling headphones because of dad.

Happy Easter all.
Following the service, she and I talked about it how it really IS a wrong story, but that it’s not the end - that we get to tell the right story on Sunday. Then she helped decorate our sanctuary with joyful colours and set aside her favourite coloured flowers for when we flower the cross tomorrow.
At the Good Friday service yesterday, a little 4 year old was devastated by the story and kept saying “it’s the wrong story!” It was heartbreaking, and her mom handled it beautifully. I keep thinking about her, and how she was likely the person who MOST understood the story that day.
In related news my Apple Music just suggested “chill” music as a theme for me so I’m listening to soothing piano music as a soundtrack to my deep breathing exercises and troubleshooting.
It is 3:49 pm on the Thursday before Good Friday and I have lost my entire Easter sermon on my computer oh my gosh this is the nightmare scenario.
Me and 60 couples apparently!
Well, I signed up for a series of talks by an author I really like, and as I am currently sitting in it I have realized this is a seminar geared for married couples, and I might be the only person here attending solo and as an intellectual interest. 🫠
I almost cried for sure! It was so beautiful.
Losing my mind over all the little girls holding up “girls rule” and similar sign. #pwhl #montrealvictoire
The number of dads wearing PWHL gear with their daughters at the Montreal Victoire & Ottawa Charge game in Winnipeg is filling my whole heart.
Ria Mae last month, East Pointers and Alan Doyle tonight… I think I was musically made for the east coast.
Kiddo snuggling at bedtime: “mommy I can heaw your heawt beats. It means you loving me.” 🥰
Just going to leave this here:
You know you’re in a room full of church nerds when someone makes a joke about chiastic structure and everyone laughs.
I don’t know many millennials that didn’t have a crush on that fox.
“It’s too bad they make it political”
-say men who most benefit from the political system they’re in
It’s pretty rude of Hellebuyck to show up now.
