Building this group has been a long-term dream, and I look forward to seeing it grow. Over the coming months, the page will expand to include sections for TEAM and PUBLICATIONS, once new members join and our first manuscripts with this affiliation are published. Stay tuned!
🔗 Our research group webpage at the @mpimarinemicrobio.bsky.social is now online: www.mpi-bremen.de/en/Minerva-F...
I am very pleased to share this milestone because it formalizes the recognition of our group within the @maxplanck.de and makes our research focus publicly visible.
Don't miss this amazing opportunity!

🚀 Thrilled to start this new chapter at the @mpimarinemicrobio.bsky.social, where I will explore how cancer spreads in bivalves. 🧬 🌊 Honored to be a #MinervaFastTrack fellow and eager to lead a team. 🔬 Looking forward to learning, collaborating, and advancing what we know about cancer evolution.
Grateful to have attended #EACR2025 in Lisbon 🇵🇹 and to present my work at the Molecular Mechanisms of Metastasis symposium! Great science, old friends & new inspiring people 💡🧬💬 @helloeacr.bsky.social @aseica.bsky.social

And today at @empseb30.bsky.social we started with @biobiiana.bsky.social learning about parental care, canibalism and much more that happens in frogs 🐸 thanks for this engaging and interesting talk 👏
Inspiring and encouraging talk by @biobiiana.bsky.social at @empseb30.bsky.social with actions we can take to improve what we face! Thank you ☺️
Isn’t biology beautiful? @empseb30.bsky.social
Merci beaucoup!!
Fascinating talk by @bruzos.bsky.social on cancer transmission in bivalves at @empseb30.bsky.social
Our todays keynote speaker was Alicia L. Bruzos. She gave an inspiring talk about contagious cancer in different bivalve species. 🐚This unique type of cancer represent an interesting oppurtunity to explore the nature and evolution of cancer. We would like to thank @bruzos.bsky.social for the talk!☺️
Great talk of @achillelenglin.bsky.social at @empseb30.bsky.social !!
At EMPSEB, you'll get to know the plenaries better than at other meetings – they'll be at all parts of the conference, including the talks, workshops and social events. We're thrilled that @bruzos.bsky.social, Filip Kolář, Eric Libby and @biobiiana.bsky.social will be joining us next year!

Phylogenetic tree highlighting species with exceptionally low cancer risk.
Big new comparative oncology paper! Zachary Compton and a large multi-institutional team analysed 16,049 necropsy records for 292 species spanning three clades of tetrapods to identify species with exceptionally high or low cancer prevalence. Free to read at doi.org/10.1158/2159...
So excited to see bivalve transmissible cancer on the cover of our issue!
