Of course, the follow-up is ... how the H-E-double-hockey-sticks did we go from taking pretty massive measures to protect children to:

"Let's infect ALL the children every year from in-utero onwards. 🥳"

I mean, what could go wrong?

Thanks!🙏 I’m using techniques I learned with charcoal 25+ years ago that don’t entirely translate to a #2 pencil (especially for achieving the darkest values). But quick sketching is something that all of my family (save my mom) did pretty well, but I need to get better for what I’m doing now.

Photo of a February pencil sketch of my 32 oz glass water bottle with a silicone sleeve with a narrow vertical capsule-shaped hole in the silicone on each side revealing the water in the glass bottle and a hard plastic straw attached to a hard plastic capped sippy top. The shape is decent but the reflections in the water bottle are awful, as is the shading/contrast (there isn’t enough contrast).

I mean, if I wasn’t nailing my stationary water bottle, a moving person was absolutely going to be a challenge.

Thanks again for organizing and promoting such great, relatable, and relevant work! 🙏

Photo of corner of a sketchbook page with three mediocre to poor sketches of the performance. I really need a lot more weekly sketch work to get my skills back up while contending with neurological symptoms (like numb/tingling hands & fatigue), as evidenced by these incomplete (no feet or hand details and a lack of fabric folds and other clothing details), poorly proportioned, and under shaded pencil sketches of brief moments from the play (2 seated moments at slightly different angles and standing front and center, all while wearing a 3M Aura N95 respirator).

I recently realized my sketching skills needed improvement/workouts (for an upcoming project), so I put my standard #2 pencil to work while watching. Despite the frequent camera angle changes & performer movements (all great for the play but tricky for me), I managed some quick, mediocre strokes.

Long COVID is significantly underreported across the globe.

Long COVID has affected over 400 million people globally as of 2024, but it’s likely underreported—especially in low- and middle-income countries where data and access to care are limited.

Your goal should always be to keep the risk of infection low because every infection carries risks you don’t want.
