This is simply a snapshot of him in the 80s. I have no doubt he retains his ability to show a calm face to the public whatever awful business was going down. How could he not have known?

Really enjoyed being "in conversation with Caroline Wyatt" about my book at the Frontline Club on Monday. "BBC Women Reporting the World". The books sold out and it was standing room only at the back. A very enjoyable conversation thereafter with the knowledgeable audience. Here are a few pics
If you’re looking for something intriguing to do on Monday 22nd at 7pm - buy a ticket to the Frontline Club in Paddington, central London. Caroline Wyatt and I will be discussing my book which examines the BBC’s hiring of women over the years and profiles 10 international journalists
I wouldn't have my book (BBC Women Reporting the World -- Sep 2025) without having had access to the Written Archives at Caversham @greavesian.bsky.social

As Trump succeeds in stopping federal funds for @PBS and @NPR , will this bring about local TV closures, and bigger news deserts? Why does this matter? My article in today’s @ConversationUK @DCU theconversation.com/trumps-budge...

Ireland is running out of priests. There is an obvious solution says @fotoole.bsky.social Time to question “the unique sanctity of the celibate male”. (But I don’t see this pope doing that)

The one consistent organising principle of this Trump presidency is its relentless support for fossil fuels. For journalists, this means that without proper energy literacy they can no longer cover politics. Reading general news coverage that is energy-illiterate has become almost useless.
A challenging podcast on how AI means cheating at uni is rife. Is “use it responsibly” any kind of solution? Ironically the @nytimes appears to be using an AI-voice delivery system? Or is it the person it claims? www.nytimes.com/audio/app/20...
