I’m baffled by his use of the r word in that interview. everything hinges on him demonstrating to us that he’s not the blackwater hat-wearing troll he used to be, then he uses this ascendant right-coded language that the rest of us decent folk learned to stop saying years ago. I don’t like it.

I saw it over Mount Katahdin from a potato farm in Aroostook County, Maine. Breathtaking!
Tulips, roses, peonies and more, gathered in a roemer and painted by Jan van Kessel, who was born on this day in 1626.
a black and white tuxedo cat stands on a gravel driveway beside yellow, coral, orange, and red willow cuttings. the driveway is grey and drab, and the willow cuttings are bright and fiery.
colorful willow cuttings from my little three year old trees.
Jug of beautiful flowers has tipped over. It's been a long day. By Jan Fyt, my colleague from Antwerp.
I’m in ME CD2 and I was excited about him for a bit and now I’m not. all the bsky people frothing and theorizing about him daily though - wtf. the obsessive fixation is wild to see. try being normal, bluesky!
OH NO! I HAD NO IDEA! I swear I’m not partisan!!! My husband just said he’s looking forward to hearing the meepers, and I peented back at him. perhaps we’re a model for healing the rift?
PEEEEEENT!
Thanks for writing this. I just screenshot and sent the whole thing to my family.
two tuxedo cats on a sunny afternoon in fresh white snow. the cat in the foreground is looking away and swishing her tail sassily. she is standing beside a black sled with a laundry basket and clothespin jug. the cat in the background is also looking away, and sitting underneath a wood splitter.
hanging winter laundry with cats. quality time.
ohhhh helllllll yes! good share, thank you
I just learned this last night. love to see it! it’s been a week of fiber education. much “does x have fiber? does y have fiber?”
Maine got a SUSAN COLLINS WROTE THE BILL TO FUND ICE AND ICE BREAKS INTO OUR HOMES TO STEAL OUR NEIGHBORS ad
I am grilling sandwiches and boiling a pot of soup on the wood cook stove right now, and honestly I am really much too hot. It’s a treat. I will absorb it and store it for when I have to go outside.
Maine tip: WOOD STOVE. you get through it beside the wood stove. the concentrated heat of the wood stove is incredibly luxurious. when you’re out in the bitter wind, you know you know there’s a warm seat by the stove in your future. this is the way.
not at all catchy, but when I’m in the stix and outnumbered locally, I remind myself “there are more of us than them” and I’m connected to a kinder world a few taps away in my pocket
we have a ranked choice primary. whoever wins that primary will have the support to send collins back to caribou. the vote won’t be split, and we don’t have to do any coalescing in february. we will vote in our RCV primary when the time comes. please take solace.
coos at tha beach!?! you kidding me??
their windswept hair, the warm light, the long shadows, so glamorous, wow
thanks for this tip! I did birthday shopping for upcoming twin birthday: preteens first kitchen knives! and color coded, too!! I’m excited!
WHOA that’s a serious bill on that thing!!!! which now looks zero like a sleeping weasel, lol
haha when I got into the car after feeding the sheep this morning I looked in the rear view mirror and was surprised to see that my face was wet from tears streaming down my cheeks - I hadn’t been able to feel it at all!? so cold! but not *quite* cold enough to freeze tears, lol
also when I sit down they’re extra too-short, like you can see the tops of my socks, and above my socks is my bare hairy leg and dry winter skin! I don’t want to share that! bad pants! I just put all the pants in this category into a tote: seeya in summer time, shorty weirdos. 38 yr ol grump here.
dude yes wtf
napping ermine bird
haha, welcome to Maine!
thank you, once again, for sharing with us!!! your contributions are such a treat! I appreciate the heads up you provide for us down here at balmy 44 degrees N, and your beautiful dispatches from the frozen north!
shame on him!
Oh cool! Where can this shrew writing be found?? The descriptions of them as the ultimate curmudgeon loner are honestly kinda charming, I’d be tickled to read more about them.
I hope it’s a daft rodent jelly roll vole that meets its fate with your cat, and not a grumpy shrew.
shrews are verrrrry tiny! it could live in the walls of your house eating bugs for years and not be a bother, though you might hear it skittering around in a hungry rage during the half hour it’s awake daily. they are cranky and weird creatures. less yucky than mice or voles.
