So weird: there's more than one scammy memorial site inviting donations or tree-planting in my dad's memory.
We are not asking for that, but if people feel moved, donations in lieu of flowers to www.aclu-mn.org, www.aclu.org, or www.eff.org
Econ folks, can you help get the word out?
We -are- all proud of his scholarship, but we are (and he was/would have been) much more pleased that he is repeatedly and consistently remembered as kind, generous to students and junior colleagues, ethical, and a supportive if occasionally challenging collaborator.
My favorite Chris Sims story is from the day he won the Nobel. I was in his advanced macro class which he was coteaching with Tom Sargent (who also won). The two alternated lectures but both came to every class. That night was Sargent’s, but Sims was there anyway! May his memory be for a blessing.
