I’m going to be in Portugal in early April: Lisbon 2-5 April, Porto 7-8 April. Can anyone advise me of any early/Baroque concerts happening, or any collections of musical instruments (public or private) that I should visit? 🎶 🎻

Coming up this week! We're reviving our popular programme Hey for Christmas. The concept is an imagined 17th-century family Christmas in London, with carols, folks songs, ballads and broadsides. Oxford on Thurs, @ltmsdnfest.bsky.social on Friday and NW1 on Saturday.

University of Nottingham, you cannot drop Music and Modern Languages! The screenshot below, is of the University of Nottingham Music Department homepage. A flourishing department, which sadly hit the news for all the wrong reasons a couple of days ago. BBC News:- Uni…

Just doing my bit to share the petitions for the University of #Nottingham's music and modern language degree courses. So distressingly shortsighted.

The final Harpsichord of the Day from the superb Lammermuir Festival! This one belongs to the Dunedin Consort. friendsofstceciliashall.com

Oh yes! We had a couple of ciphers during the recital, but our crack team of claviorganum specialists (aka ‘The C Team’) had them fixed quickly.

Good point Jacob!
There are a few, but the fact that this one is still owned by the same family and is still in the same (rather grand) house that it was bought for is quite something. It was fascinating to hear it and learn more about it.

Something special today: Claviorganum of the Day! The only claviorganum still owned by the family that bought it over 250 years ago. Played by John Kitchen, with commentary by Eleanor Smith-Guido, both Committee members of the Friends, with soprano Mhairi Lawson. Part of the ace Lammermuir Festival.

Previously the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht used different harpsichords in the daily recitals at Lutherse Kerke - this year they are using the same instrument. So today’s Harpsichord of the Day is the same as recently, but the player is different - Arianna Radaelli.

Harpsichord of the day, and a superb young player! Maciej Skrzeczkowski in the Fringe of the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht. I predict he’ll soon be in the main Festival!

The Friends (well, the Friend in charge of social media) on tour at the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht. Harpsichord of the day. This concert was part of the Fringe (sounds familiar) where young musicians show us their talent. Maybe we’ll see them in Edinburgh one day?
